Five charged in series of break-ins – The Robesonian

LUMBERTON An investigation into recent break-ins across the city has led to the arrest of five people.

According to a statement by police Capt. Terry Parker, Timothy Oneal Locklear, 22, of East Second Street; John Prentice McCollum, 22, of East Eighth Street; Christopher Lee McCollum, 19, of Alamac Road; and Brandon Lee Locklear, 20, of Alamac Road, were arrested Friday and charged with a break-in that occurred on East 23rd Street on Aug. 17.

Each has been charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering, Parker said. Each was placed in Robeson County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond.

Christopher Lee McCollum, John Prentice McCollum and Brandon Lee Locklear also have been charged with a breaking and entering that occurred Aug. 12 on Walnut Street near 17th Street, according to Parker. Each has been charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, and conspiracy to commit breaking and entering. The bond for each on those charged was $15,000 secured.

Jasmine Porter, 19, of Alamac Road, was arrested Friday at Motel 6 after search warrants were executed, Parker said. She was found to be in possession of cocaine and charged with possession of a schedule II drug, he said. She was jailed under a $5,000 secured bond.

Parker said police armed with warrants searched a home on the 3700 block of Alamac Road in Lumberton, two rooms at Motel 6, and a room at Royal Inn in Lumberton. Firearms, stolen property, and narcotics were found.

The Robeson County Sheriffs Office, Probation and Parole, Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the State Bureau of Investigation assisted the Lumberton Police Department in the searches and investigation.

I want to commend the police department for the approach they took on this rash of recent break-ins, said Erich Hackney, who represents the Tanglewood community on the City Council and is an investigator with the District Attorneys Office. Residents should always remain vigilant to their surroundings, they should notice some much-needed relief from the break-ins in the neighborhood.

The investigation continues, and more charges and arrests are likely, Parker said.
