OKC party bus crash – Daily O’Collegian

At least 11 people were injured on Saturday when a party bus crashed near the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Kings Street.

Upon impact, at least one party bus passenger was thrown from the back of the bus to the front. Of the 12 people involved, two refused medical treatment and 9 were transported to Stillwater Medical Center for injuries ranging from back injuries to a head laceration.

At about 11:30 p.m., two 17-year-old Stillwater residents in a Ford F-150 were stopped in the inside eastbound lane of the 1800 block of West Sixth Avenue preparing to turn left into a private drive.

Kristi Lynn Van Boskerck, of Stillwater, 21, was reportedly stopped in a Ford Focus directly behind the F-150. The party bus, carrying eight passengers, was travelling eastbound in the same lane before it crashed into the back of the Focus, which was propelled forward into the back of the F-150, according to the police report.

The driver of the OKC Party Bus Inc. party bus, Michael Clay Powell, of Yukon, 53, said Van Boskerck cut him off when she reportedly switched lanes from the outside eastbound lane to the inside lane, and Powell could not avoid the collision, according to the police report.

Van Boskerck claimed she was stopped and did not change lanes. The driver of the F-150 stated he saw the Focus stopped directly behind him.

The party bus and the F-150 were driven from the scene and the Focus was towed.

The driver of the F-150 complained of an injury to his head; Van Boskerck had injuries to her back and legs; Nicholas Charles Hartman, of Edmond, 33 had injuries to his back and right shoulder; Sarah Elizabeth Hartman, of Edmond, 30, had injuries to her back, left knee and right elbow; Ryan Christopher Murray, of Broken Arrow, 32, had injuries to his back and arms; Ashley Kathryn Green, of Edmond, 29, had a head injury; Armando Nmn Zurita, of Wiley, Texas, 32, complained of a head laceration; Kelcy Christine Kennedy, of Oklahoma City, 36, had a broken nose; and Kristie Nicole Frejo, of Yukon, 29, had injuries to her right shoulder, elbow and head.

Powell, the party bus driver, complained of an injury to his back but refused medical attention; Christopher Lee Daley of Tulsa, 30, stated he might have a head injury but refused medical attention; and the 17-year-old passenger of the F-150 did not report injury.
