Hudson Valley Won’t Be ‘Quiet Place’ During Horror Movie Production – Greenburgh Daily Voice

Now Hudson Valley knows the name of the major motion picture that will lead to the closure of a road in Dutchess for nearly two months starting next week.

"A Quiet Place," a supernatural horror film starring John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt, will result in the closure of West Dover Road in the towns of Dover and Pawling from Sept. 6 to Oct. 23 as the film is produced atStarkdale Farm.

As reported on Friday by Daily Voice, a quarter-mile section of the road near Blackberry Road will be closed and a detour has been posted, redirecting traffic over Route 22 via Pleasant Ridge Road and River Road, said the Dutchess County Department of Public Works.

Residents will have full access to their properties throughout the production. Emergency services and local school districts have been notified of the closure to ensure emergency services and school bus transportation is accessible.

Blunt also appeared in "Devil Wears Prada," and "The Girl on the Train," which was filmed in Westchester. Krasinski of "The Office" fame, will also write and direct "A Quiet Place," in addition to co-starring in the thriller, marking the first time he and his wife have appeared on screen together.

The movie is due to be released April 2018.

The county's scenic beauty, easy proximity to New York City and abundant local talent and resources has made the Valley a favorite spot for filming.

To date in 2017, there have been 10 film projects in Dutchess County with each production infusing local communities with spending dollars engaging local businesses for construction of structures and sets, painting, catering, tents, cleaning, security, and much more. The productions are also hiring local workers as site managers, camera crews, production assistants, and talent, said the County Executive's Office.
