The Walking Dead appears to narrow its list of Negan’s …

WARNING: SPOILERS

Fans of The Walking Dead have been waiting with bated breath to find out which character was brutally bludgeoned to death by new villain Negan in the season six finale.

And a major spoiler was apparently revealed on Thursday when three actors were shown on the Atlanta, Georgia set of the show.

While the fate of eight other characters remains unknown, it seems that those spotted during filming can be crossed off the list of potential victims.

Revealing a major spoiler: It seems Ross Marquand (far left) and Andrew Lincoln (far right)'s The Walking Dead characters Aaron and Rick were not Negan's mystery victim from the season six finale, as they filmed scenes for season seven with Alanna Masterson on Thursday

The season finale showed Negan (played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan)slaughter one of 11 characters with his barbed wire-covered baseball bat during a deadly game of Eenie Meenie Miney Mo.

The group was made up of Rick, Maggie, Abe, Michonne, Daryl, Sasha, Aaron, Carl, Eugene, Rosita and Glenn.

But new photos appear to confirm that Rick, Aaron and Michonne are safe after Andrew Lincoln, Ross Marquand and Danai Gurira were seen filming for season seven.

The group were spotted shooting with Alanna Masterson, who portrays Tara - a character that was not among the potential victims.

Alive and well: Danai Gurira, who portrays Michonne, was also spotted on the Atlanta, Georgia set, suggesting her character is safe

Armed: Andrew was seen wielding a gun as Danai followed him through some undergrowth

Could they be filming flashbacks?: There's a chance that the spotting wasn't a spoiler, although the group were shooting the ninth episode of the season

Of course the group may have merely been filming flashback scenes, but given the fact that they were apparently working on the ninth episode of the season, it suggests none of their characters were Negan's victims.

In the comic book version, it's Glenn who Negan kills in issue 100, the fourth part of volume 17 titled Something To Fear, released in July 2012.

And while many have speculated that the fan favourite character will also be Negan's victim on the show, 32-year-old Steven Yeun, who portrays Glenn, was seen driving to the set in May.

Safe:While the fate of eight other characters remains unknown, it seems unlikely that Rick, Aaron or Michonne were killed off

Shocking cliffhanger: Fans have been reeling since one of 11 characters was brutally murdered by Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan in the season six finale, which aired in April

Villain: Negan murdered eitherRick, Maggie, Abe, Michonne, Daryl, Sasha, Aaron, Carl, Eugene, Rosita or Glenn with a barbed wire-covered baseball bat

The actor and co-star Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl, were photographed rushing to help after stumbling across a car crash in Peachtree City, Atlanta as they headed to the set, although it's possible they were going to be filming flashbacks.

Fans have been reeling since the shocking cliffhanger aired in April, and they will have to wait until season seven kicks off to discover who was killed.

In June, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that each of the 11 characters that faced death at the end of season six received their own execution scene, in order to keep the true identity of the victim a secret.

All will be revealed when The Walking Dead returns to AMC for a seventh season on October 23, 2016.

All will be revealed: Fans will discover who was slaughtered during the deadly game of Eenie Meenie Miney Mo when the show returns in October

Will the show follow suit?: In the comic book version, it was Glenn (portrayed by Steven Yeun on the show) who was murdered by Negan
