Where does our cultural conjoining of sleep and death come from, and how has the entanglement of the two concepts persisted throughout time in our major artistic and historic works?

As we contemplate our present and future around the 239th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, are we being myopic? Is our politics focused mainly on marginalia while real change, big change, is being prepped elsewhere?

Fashion is fickle and comes in waves, rushing up onto the shores of consciousness, soaking the landscape so it becomes more than a trend, before receding to be re-invented, a decade or two later.

It's the highest rated cable TV show that's been continuing on an upward trajectory since its pilot episode aired on October 31, 2010. And while technically already having won two Emmys, both Creative Arts Emmys in 2011 and 2012, The Walking Dead deserves more.

"You really like those AMC shows don't you?" a woman asked me recently. To which I said, "Yes, I do." For AMC means it when they say story matters here. Also, it's their compelling characters who give depth to their stories. Therefore, both story and characters matter at AMC.
