The Walking Dead’s US network launches ad-free option to cut 20 … – DigitalSpy.com

If you live in the US and like your Walking Dead ad-free, well, then it's a good day for you.

AMC's cable broadcaster Comcast has announced it would be offering a commercial-free option to customers of its XFinity TV platform called AMC Premiere.

What does this mean?

Well, US subscribers will now have the option to pay $5 more per month to stream on-demand versions of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and all their other favourite AMC shows without commercial breaks.

Oh, and it also means monthly payment streaming services such as Netflix may have finally found themselves a worthy opponent.

Fans will be able to play the shows at the exact same time as the commercial-dense episodes shown on the normal AMC channel.

The option also makes a pretty compelling case for XFinity customers to pay the extra fee, as it means service users will finish their favourite episodes approximately 20 minutes before those watching on the linear AMC.

So if you're not willing to shell out for ad-free eps, you may want to stay off Twitter while watching.

In addition, the monthly payment service will allow subscribers to access bonus content not immediately available elsewhere, such as deleted scenes and cast interviews, as well as a monthly selection of thematically similar feature films.

For example, AMC Premiere will let subscribers stream all of the From Dusk to Dawn movies and Bram Stoker's Dracula since Preacher has just started its second season on the network. Nifty.

The service is only available through Comcast at present.

However, it's expected other TV providers will eventually start selling AMC Premiere as part of their cable bundles.
