Vampire Diaries reunion lined up for Paul Wesley and Julie Plec on new show Confessions – Digital Spy

The Vampire Diaries duo Paul Wesley and Julie Plec are getting the band back together for a new TV drama.

Recognised for playing Stefan Salvatore in The CW's neck-munching hit, Wesley turns executive producer alongside Plec here, who has also worked extensively on spin-offs The Originals and Legacies.

According to Deadline, their project is based on a non-fiction article titled The Confessions of a Drug-Addicted High School Teacher, written by Jason Smith in 2015.

Titled Confessions (at least for now), this one clearly struck a chord with Wesley when he first read it, who's been working on the adaptation since 2016 over at his production company Citizen Media.

Smith's piece recounts his two-year stretch as a high school teacher in California, where he teaches while anaesthetised by a heavy dose of prescription narcotics.

However, he discovers that his brokenness from addiction attracts broken students, and in a town obsessed with high school football, he's not the only one with an obsession to escape from himself.

Plec herself addressed the announcement over on Twitter this week, writing: "Gettin' the band back together...." next to a trio of celebration emojis.

"So happy for you and Paul! You guys make beautiful music together!" replied one of her followers, before two more shared: "Congratulations!! Can't wait to see this!" and "Congratulations to you and @paulwesley excited for this reunion!"

It's been a fruitful four months for the TV boss; back in January her zombie show Dead Day was picked up for a full series at streaming service Peacock.

The Vampire Diaries aired on The CW, and is now available to stream on Netflix.
