Fear the Walking Dead Showrunner on the ‘Fallout’ of Midseason Finale – Screen Rant

WARNING: This post contains SPOILERS forFear the Walking Dead

The midseason finale of Fear the Walking Dead season 3 may have attained peace between the Broke Jaw Ranch community and Walkers Native American clan, but it came with the price and that is what the show will have to deal moving forward in the season.

In thetwo-part midseason capper, Madison Clark (Kim Dickens) has taken the initiative to find a common ground between the rival groups in order to keep everybody safe in the Otto ranch. Upon learning the real reason for Walkers (Michael Greyeyes) anger against the ranchers, the Clark matriarch suggested that he kills Jeremiah Otto, Sr. (Dayton Callie) himself. Unfortunately, Walker did not have enough guts to do it which prompted Nick (Frank Dillane) to volunteer and finish the murder. The oldest Ottos head was eventually sent to the Native clan supposedly as a peace offering from the ranch.

The seemingly good place that the Clarks, as well as, the ranch is currently in right now is no more than an illusion. Showrunner Dave Erickson has told Comic Bookthat the family eventually has to deal with the consequences of their secret committed crime in more ways than one:

Therell be a lot of walking on eggshells in that regard. More importantly, theres the fallout for Nick having committed a murder, because Nick, as we know, is somewhat more of a sensitive soul. I think hes adapted more to the apocalypse than he had in previous seasons, but theres a weight to that, and Nick what we try to do whenever we have a major death is we try to honor it and try to let that be the narrative, and so even though Otto was revealed to be the evil man he was, it doesnt take away from the fact that Nick took his life. It doesnt take away from the fact, he took Troys father, and I think thats something that he has to process.

Right now, the ranch may be something that can be dubbed as a real haven to the Clarks and the rest of the post-apocalypsesurvivor using it as their quarters. But fans can expect that a brand new conflict or problem will eventually arise, especially with a new family seemingly taking over the place from the Ottos.

Further, the risk ofbrothers Troy (Daniel Sharman) and Jake (Sam Underwood) eventually finding out what happened to their dad will be a looming problem in the latter half of the season. Right now, Otto, Sr.s death is still posed as a suicide something that was done out of his humble act to protect his ranch and his legacy and it would be riveting when his murder is finally revealed to everyone.

Fear the Walking Dead season 3 is currently on its mandatory hiatus and a comeback this September is already penciled in. Nevertheless, fans can expect new details and possibly even a first look at its upcoming episodes later this month in Comic-Con International: San Diego where the show will be hosting a panel.

Fear the Walking Deadwill return with the second half of season 3 later in 2017.
