The disturbing world of real life vampires – Metro

Beyond the romantic veneer of films like Twilight is a disturbing community of very real vampires.

Forums dedicated to vampirism tend to distinguish between the type of vampire users are.

Some are specifically tailored for psychic or psy vampires, who feed off other peoples auras and spiritual energy.

Others are for sanguinarian vampires sang for short where the vampire will drink the blood of a living creature, or person.

On one particularly popular sanguinarian forum, vampires discusstheir first blood feeds, their best feeds, where they can find donors, and their so-called awakenings.

A person doesnt simply wake up one day and decide to give being a vampire a go.

In order to become a vampire, a person goes through what is apparently known in the community as an awakening.

The term awakening refers to any experience which transforms a person into a vampire, and is described by many as an all-encompassing physical and psychical experience.

One woman, writing on a sang vampire forum, described awakening after ripping into and devouring raw, bloody hamburgers in the middle of the night.

Similarly, a vampires first blood feed is an all-encompassing experience.

One user describes creating the right atmosphere for their first blood feed, by fasting and meditating for a few days, and finding the ideal music.

Their donor a person who willingly gives their blood to a vampire was someone they had known for nearly two years and who knows me and my peculiarity quite well.

They then described extracting the blood with a medical lancet, in order to make things as comfortable as possible for my donor, and to avoid messiness or pain. They extracted three to four drops of blood and drank it.

Shortly after I started to feel the familiar warm tingling feeling that comes after psychic feeding, starting out around the navel and spreading out, they wrote.

Only it was more intense in a way, similar to the waves of warmth that come after popping an ecstasy pill (but without the mental or visual distortion). It is something that could be described as orgasmic, yes, but yet it is not sexual nor does it really feel sexual. Its more than that, if I may say.

Another user from Florida described in detail the hyper-sexualised experience of drinking their female friends blood one night for the first time, after watching a movie and cuddling together on the sofa.

The friend pricked her fingers with a blade and put spots of blood at different points on her body including her breasts, ankles and third eye, the user says before making the new vampire lick it all off from the ankles upwards.

Vampires cant drink the blood of a dead animal. When a vampire drinks someones blood, it has to be from a living being someone that still has energy and what they call vibrations within them.

According to one vampire on a sanguinarian forum, this is described in detail in the occultist text, the Asetian Bible which is a source of information and guidance for many vampires.

In order to get hold of willing donors, some will turn to the internet although many insist on a period of screening and testing for diseases before they will actually drink any blood.

Another website works as a sort-of hook-up page for vampires looking to meet donors.

Some evidently hope to get more out of it than just blood donations

Others are far more direct.

But online or offline, vampire communities are incredibly close-knit and extremely wary of outsiders.

Groups of vampires that meet offline in physical geographic locations are known as covens, and have a specific theme, set of ideals, traditions, common Sigil [an identifying symbol], havens, membership requirements, hierarchy and/or rites.

According to a sanguinarian page, covens can sometimes have hundreds of members.

But smaller, more selective, and extremely secretive groups are called cabals.

These cabals are said to run blood bars underground venues where donors will bloodlet for a gathering of vampires.

No. For a number of reasons, blood whether that be animal or human is not safe for humans to ingest.

Blood is actually toxic for humans to drink. A tiny amount, if you cut your lip for example, probably wont cause any harm but too much can be life-threatening.

This is because our digestive systems just cant handle blood. Vampire bats, on the contrary, have evolved to be able to digest blood without any problems at all but humans havent.

Add to this the risk of blood-borne diseases such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV, and youre better off steering clear.

Despite feeding off this underground world, vampires describe living in the normal world and not appearing as a vampire, or living the lifestyle openly.

Those who admit to those around them that they are a vampire are said to have come out of the coffin but this is extremely rare.

Many people in the vampiric community choose to be in the coffin and are not public about their lifestyle outside of the community or scene, one sanguinarian site explains.
