Cookie: This horror film promises shivers and goosebumps – Pune Mirror

The fast-paced life in our metros takes a toll on nuclear families. On the surface, it appears life is great, more so in the case of the affluent and well-educated families, till suddenly, everything collapses, exposing a shocking reality.

Every year we see dozens of horror films opening in cinemas, but not many leave a mark on our minds and souls. The makers of latest horror film Cookie promise to have their audiences scared for life. The movie tells the story of two top psychiatrists who are too busy fixing the minds of the world till they are challenged by their own teenage daughter Cookie (Vibhoutee Sharma). Their life takes a violent turn as we see the daughter vent out her resentments taking the narrative to a shocking end and show us how far a modern teen can go for vengeance.

The story focuses on metro-based youth-centric issues and is in the paranormal space. Todays youngsters face tremendous peer pressures and fallouts of fast paced technological developments. It is important to understand that they are not always wrong.

Talking about the movie, producer and creative director Smita Tripathi says During our life in the Army, we frequently came across numerous stories where soldiers regularly felt the presence of their comrades or superiors who died fighting. They accept them as a part of their routine life and interact and treat them as if theyre still among them. Some of us may be familiar with the story of Jaswant Garh near Tawang and the Jaswant Baba.

In keeping with the genre, the film also promises realistic paranormal moments and the characters, too, are relatable, without excessive dependency on VFX and overboard depictions.

Cookie, produced by Smita Tripathi under the banner Sixth Sense Cine Vision, and directed by Lalit Marathe, releases on February 28, 2020, while the films trailer will be launched today.
