Walking Dead spin-off World Beyond gets premiere update – digitalspy.com

The Walking Dead: World Beyond co-creator and showrunner Matt Negrete has promised fans that the spin-off series will be here "before you know it" following its delay.

The new spin-off series, which will follow a group of teenagers who were sheltered from the zombie apocalypse by the previous generation, was scheduled to premiere on April 12, but was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, Negrete has taken to Instagram to commemorate what should have been the show's premiere date.

"Today was the original premiere date of @twdworldbeyond which had to be pushed to later this year due to current events," he captioned an image of the casts' personalised set chairs.

"On the bright side, given how each day blends into the next, 'later this year' will be here before we know it.

"Til then, let's all do what we can to stay safe and healthy look out for each other. Better days are coming."

The spin-off series, which is co-created by The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple, will star Annet Mahendru (Tyrant, The Americans) and Aliyah Royale (The Red Line) as protagonists Huck and Iris.

The Punisher actor Joe Holt will play Leo Bennett, who has been described as a "solid family man and respected professor" with a "generous heart and unwavering optimism for the future", and someone who will "risk his life to save the people he cares about".

The Walking Dead: World Beyond will premiere in spring 2020 on AMC in the US and Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
