HIGHLIGHTS

Artemis Fowl: Disney's newest blockbuster is skipping theaters and headed straight to streaming. The film, based on the book series by author Eoin Colfer, is basically a magical, kid-friendly spin on Men in Black. It's also a major splash for Disney+as the Mouse House flexes its muscle by sending a would-be theatrical flick exclusively to its streaming service.

Schoolhouse Rock Season 1: Need a refresher on how a bill becomes law? The classic educational series is here to helpwith a batch of vintage episodes heading to streaming. It's a cultural icon, and now a whole new generation of kids will get a chance to see it.

It's a relatively thin month on CBS All Access, though the service is working on some cool new stuff like a Pike-focused Star Trek spinoff series down the line. You know, whenever they can resume filming and get things back on track. But for now, fans have Season 2 of The Twilight Zone to enjoy. The full second season of Jordan Peele's anthology revival drops on June 25, and like Season 1, it features a roster loaded with A-list talent.

HIGHLIGHTS

Doom Patrol Season 2: The first season was a critical hit on DC Universe, so HBO Max scooped it up for Season 2. The comic-based series follows a team of misfits as they save the world, mostly by accident. Think Legends of Tomorrow but much more nihilistic, dirty and analog. But the show is fantasticand looks to only enrichen that bizarro corner of the DC Universe once it returns.

Adventure Time Distant Lands: BMO: Special Premiere: Giddy up, BMO is gonna be a hero! The animated series returns with some fresh specials, so if you've been jonesing for more, HBO Max is here to serve it up.

Perry Mason: Limited Series Premiere: Admittedly, this one isn't genre per se, though it certainly seems to occupy that hard-boiled detective genre that fans might enjoy in that crossover territory. It also stars The Americans alum Matthew Rhysand looks to be one of HBO's big high-profile projects for the summer.

HIGHLIGHTS

Child's Play: Want to catch up on the recent horror reboot of the classic doll-focused horror franchise? The new-look Chucky is here to play. This modern-day revival gives the tale a more tech-y twist, and though it lacks a bit of that OG B-movie charm, it's still a scary, fun little romp.

Crawl: Need a creature-feature grounded in some real world terror? This should do the trick. Crawl follows a young woman and her father trapped in a flooded house that is being overrun by alligators. It's tight, tense and super-scary.

Charlie's Angels: Yet another modern-day revival, the fresh spin on the classic super-spy trio hits streaming. The film didn't exactly light up the box office, but a lot of folks still dug it, and it makes for a girl-power adventure that's well worth a ticket. Especially if it's just a button-push away.

Knives Out: Rian Johnson's fantastic whodunnit was a recent critical fave, hailed as one of the best films in recent memory. It's loaded with great characters, big stars, and a twisty story that begs to be rewatched at least a few more times. Now we'll all have the chance.

HIGHLIGHTS

Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street: Some have called it the 'gayest horror movie ever made,' but for Mark Patton, the star of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, it was anything but a dream come true. 30 years after its initial release, Patton sets the record straight about the controversial sequel that halted his career before it even began. Detailing the homophobia and AIDS-phobia of 1985 as a closeted actor in Hollywood, Mark retraces his obstacles, missteps, and detractors on the pathway to stardom. Confronting the cast and crew for the first time, Mark attempts to make peace with his past as well as embrace his legacy as cinema's first male scream queen.

Scare Package: 7 directors. 7 tales of terror. Zero working cell phones. In this gleefully ghoulish anthology, Chad, the owner of Rad Chad's Horror Emporium, recounts a series of bone-chilling, blood-splattered tales to illustrate the rules of the horror genre to his newest employee.

Yummy: SXSW 2020 Midnighter: A young couple travels to a shady Eastern European hospital for plastic surgery. The young woman wants a breast reduction. Her mother comes along for yet another face-lift. Wandering through an abandoned ward, the boyfriend stumbles upon a young woman, gagged and strapped to an operating table; she's the result of experimental rejuvenation treatment. He frees her but doesn't realize she's patient zero and he just caused the outbreak of a virus that will change the doctors, patients, and his mother-in-law into bloodthirsty zombies.

Yep, Quibi is still a thing. The mobile-first, short-form streaming service is looking to debut a new genre-adjacent original this month withThe Fugitive. It's a remake of the 1993 Harrison Ford thriller about a man wrongly accused and on the run, only this time it stars Kiefer Sutherland and Boyd Holbrook. The show is set to kick off at some point in June. The service is also streaming some other genre-ish projects that dropped in recent months, such as 50 States of Fright, Most Dangerous Game, The Stranger and Survive.
