Spike TV's testosterone-fueled series The Deadliest Warrior entertained viewers for 3 seasons as it pitted history's most dangerous killers against one another in theoretical simulation. While few people bought fully into the premise, it was still fun to watch all manner of anachronistic death duels taking place on screen, with some background knowledge shared about each side's weapons, battle culture, and tactical strengths.

The show gave viewers a front-row seat as a computer simulation ran 1,000 battles between each set of combatants to declare a winner. Read along to find out which match-ups of The Deadliest Warrior were the absolute best of the bunch.
The final episode of season 3 might have foreshadowed the fact that The Deadliest Warrior was beginning to run out of ideas. For the first time, two fictional factions were pitted against each other to see which was truly the deadliest. The culmination of their battle prowess centered primarily on melee attacks, with differences in supernatural ability thrown in for good measure.
The simulation pitted 3 vampires against 189 zombies, and it turned out as one would expect. Sheer numbers allowed the zombies to overwhelm and kill two of the vampires, leaving the last one to shred the remaining ghouls to ribbons, while suffering a bite in the process. The episode ended with the vampire slowly turning into a zombie/vampire hybrid, leaving the decisive winnerambiguous.
This 5th episode of season 3 is unique in that it pits two of history's most loathed mass murderers against one another, for the benefit of the audience. Theoretically, it was hard to imagine either man as a capable warrior, but both were measured against each other when it came to tactics, ideology, and (of course) weapons.
While Pol Pot's Chinese stick grenade and light machine gun served as highly effective weapons, Saddam Hussein held an edge in short and mid-range weapons. In the end, Hussein's ruthless cunning won the day when he propped up a dead corpse to fool Pot into launching an attack, which gave him an opportunity to sneak up and take out his foe.
Episode 6 of season 1 put two of the most lethal killing machines in the same playground, and allowed the simulation to dictate the winner. In one corner were the Green Berets - highly trained Special Forces soldiers who take on highly dangerous missions, while in the other corner sat the Spestnaz, the Russian equivalent.
While both sides carried a lethal amount of weaponry into battle, the edge was given to the Spestnaz for their use of the ballistic knife - a spring-loaded blade that fires from the handle, which struck the final Green Beret's neck, putting an end to the simulation.
Season two's second episode pit two of the most legendary warriors in history against one another in an all-out battle for the ages. Attila the Hun held the edge when it came to short and long-range weapons, which gave him a major advantage over Alexander the Great and his mid-range xyston and ballista. It was also the first episode to include horseback combat as part of the criteria fed into the battle simulation.

The two were evenly matched throughout the fight, with Alexander gaining the upper hand on several occasions. It seemed like a close call, but Attila won the day by stabbing his opponent through the neck with his sword.
The final episode of season 2 was especially interesting, given that both the Navy SEALS and Israeli Commandos share a common partnership. This battle was largely analytical, and designed to see which team was truly the best of the best. While Israeli Commandos are renowned for their battle skill, there's no denying the brutal and rigorous training required to become a U.S. Navy SEAL.
The SEAL held the advantage in mid and long-range weapons, but the final kills would come down to the use of explosives. The two remaining Israeli Commandos were lured towards a trap comprised of C4 explosives, which killed both during the detonation.
Shaolin martial arts received a major boost in popularity in the late 60s and throughout the 1970s, when Hong Kong action films began migrating to North America. As such, it was interesting to see how well the martial art would fare against a completely foreign fighting style - in this case, the Maori Warrior. The seventh episode of season 1 pit these two highly trained warriors against one another, with a variety of weapons and tactics in tow.
Although the Maori Warrior held the edge in both short and mid-range weapons, as well as special weapons, the Shaolin Monk's rigorous training and deadly twin hooks were enough of an advantage to win the fight. The final act of the fight saw the Shaolin Monk killing his opponent with Emei Piercers, a close-range stabbing weapon.
This season 3 match-up made the list due to the lopsided amount of popularity between the two combatants. While practically everyone has heard of Genghis Khan, far fewer know anything about Hannibal, the Carthaginian General who waged war against Rome in 218BC. Both are considered by historians to be two of the greatest military men in all of recorded history.
Hannibal held an advantage when it came to mid-range weapons, and the use of the War Elephant, while Khan held the age only in short-range weapons. The two squared off and enjoyed a lengthy fight, with armor becoming the deciding factor in the final outcome. Hannibal's attack failed to pierce Khan's armor, prompting the latter to retaliate and land a slice across the neck, severing an artery.
Russia and the U.S. would square off in theoretical combat once again in season 2, but they'd swap Special Forces crews for clandestine operatives, instead. It was an intriguing match-up that focused on how clever both sides were in how they utilized weapons and killing tactics.
This time, America came out on top with a superior breed of spy, thanks largely in part to the edge it held in mid and long-range weapons. In the end, the last surviving KGB member was careless enough to neglect to check the back seat of his car, where a CIA agent lie in wait to strangle him to death with a garrote wire.
Battle historians and military commanders have referenced Sun Tzu'sArt Of Waras a philosophical masterclass in psychological and tactics-based warfare. However,TheDeadliest Warriordecided to put him nose-to-nose with one of the most frightening mass murderers in history - Vlad the Impaler. The results spoke for themselves.

While Sun Tzu's tactical mind and repeating crossbow were an asset, they were no match for Vlad's huge advantage in both short, mid-range, and special weapons. After slicing both off Sun Tzu's hands off at the wrists, Vlad refuses a killing blow in favor of impaling him alive on a large spike - a testament to the real warlord's penchant for cruelty, which would later inspire the Dracula mythos.
Greece had a powerful fighting force on its hands in the form of the Spartan Army. Although it was immortalized in the film adaptation of Frank Miller's300,the Spartans did not hold out against Persia all by themselves. Nevertheless, their ruthlessness on the battlefield was no work of fiction.
The third episode of season 1 pitted a Spartan against a Ninja warrior in the best episode of the entire series. Though armed with a deadly arsenal of weapons, the Ninja proved no match for the armored, highly trained Spartan, who emerged victorious whilst his dead foe remained pinned to a tree. Credit was given to the Spartan's deadly spear and shield, the latter of which was able to inflict 45G's on an enemy combatant, which would easily result in death.
