Elizabeth Olsen's big fear? Water – thanks to 'Jaws'

Elizabeth Olsen's upcoming thriller "Silent House," about a young woman (Olsen) who becomes trapped in her family's summer home, sounds plenty scary, and Olsen admits that filming it freaked her out a bit.

"It took a long time to wind down from this movie," Olsen said. "It was a lot," noting the fact that the movie is presented in real time, made to look like one continuous shot, which heightens the tension.

"Its just a whole new way of watching an event," Olsen said. "Its exciting to figure out how all of this fear and terror can happen in real time without any [obvious] camera tricks."

But it's actually water, the 23-year-old actress revealed, that terrifies her.

"I think its because I watched kind of every movie growing up as a kid - I was the youngest of four - [and] I loved these movies, but I do have a genuine fear of water because of 'Jaws.' That was definitely my first understanding of what sharks were...Just like my first experience with spiders was from 'Arachnophobia,' so [I'm] just totally scarred."

Spiders is another fear, but it sounds like Steven Spielberg's 1975 classic has left a lasting impact. Olsen says she won't even watch 2003's "Open Water," which was made by Chris Kentis, who co-directs "Silent House."

"I knew of the film when it came out cause my brothers a huge fan of it, and he and I have very similar taste and I trust his judgment. But I wont, I just wont see it," she says. "'Cause Im truly, genuinely - I wouldnt be able to sit through it and probably [would] have to turn it off."

That being said, she "was excited to work with the people who made that terrifying film" to create "Silent House," which opens March 9.
