The Shed is a unique vampire movie with a big plot hole that could use some explanation and that begs the question, who's in the trunk at the end?
The Shedchanges up some of the standard vampire movie conventions, but leaves a major question in the endingwho's in the trunkand creates an interesting plot hole. For the vast majority of the movie, the vampire is trapped in the titular shed in main character Stan's (Jay Jay Warren) backyard. This unique plot device is the cause of several plot holes, most of which can be attributed to the inexperience of the characters. The movie's biggest plot hole, however, could use some explanation: vampires in the film are inconsistently affected by exposure to sunlight, which is usually deadly to vampires. This sunlight plot hole is indirectly related to who's in the trunk at the end of the movie, since at least one vampire is exposed to a great deal of sunlight and seemingly doesn't die.
The fact that the main vampire, Bane (Frank Whaley), seems to be trapped in the shed except for at the very end is also obviously a plot hole: as a vampire, he should be able to escape at night by breaking through the simple wooden door and walls of the shed (or by simply walking out, since the door is unlocked at the beginning). This is a big enough plot hole already, but it does have a logical explanation, though it's not mentioned in the movie. Stan and the audience believe that Bane is trapped, but it is also possible that Bane simply doesn't want to leave the shed.

Bane has no reason to leave right away, especially since he, as a new vampire, might be scared and need time to process the whole situation. It may be that he is just being cautious and is worried about finding another sunlight-free place before the sun comes up (he is later seen emerging from the dirt). He also might not want to draw more attention to himself. Many versions of vampires usually need to meticulously plan their hiding places and keep their true identities a secret. Another explanation could be that, as a new vampire, he is too weak in the beginning to do anything other than hide in the shed, though this is obviously not true since the other new vampires in the movie are ready to fight immediately.
In the beginning of the movie, Bane is running away from a Nosferatu-like vampire in the woods. The vampire catches him and bites him, but he is able to break free. Immediately after he is bitten, the sun comes up, and the vampire is exposed to what seems like a minimal amount of sunlight. His brief exposure to the sun's rays incinerates him instantly, turning him into a pile of ash. As a result of the vampire's bite, Bane has already been turned into a vampire, as evidenced by the fact that his skin now burns with exposure to sunlight. Bane realizes his new weakness and runs from the forest to Stan's shed in plain daylight, protected by a shroud he grabs on the way.
The Nosferatu vampire only needs a bit of exposure to sunlight to be completely destroyed, but Bane is burned several times by the sun's rays on his way to the shed, and he does not die. Because the movie begins with this inconsistency and sets up the rest of the film, it is the film's biggest plot hole. The issue rears its head again after Stan's best friend and blood brother, Dommer (Cody Kostro), is turned into a vampire.
Stan finds Dommer in the shed, where he is burned by a ray of sunlight from the window and barely flinches. Stan defends himself from Dommer's attack by stabbing him in the stomach and exposing his arm to sunlight. The sunlight incapacitates him, but Dommer is not completely destroyed like the Nosferatu vampire was. Dommer then bursts from the shed and crawls through the sunlight; he burns, but doesn't turn to ash. The only logical explanation for this is that new vampires aren't affected as much by sunlight as older vampires are, though this is never mentioned in the movie.

Virtually all the characters introduced in the movie are either attacked by a vampire or turned into one. Several of these characters are attacked but not turned, or are not seen being turned. A total of seven people are attacked: Bane, Grandpa (Timothy Bottoms), the sheriff (Siobhan Fallon Hogan), Dommer, Marble (Chris Petrovski), and Marble's two friends Pitt (Francisco Burgos) and Ozzy (Uly Schlesinger). Only four of these victims are shown as vampires: Bane, Dommer, Pitt, and Ozzy. Of these four vampires, all but one, Dommer, are shown being killed by one of the three prescribed methods: sunlight, beheading, or destroying the heart: Bane (beheaded), Pitt (beheaded), and Ozzy (heart destroyed). The rest of the people attacked by the vampires are never seen as vampires: Grandpa, the sheriff, and Marble. These facts beg the question: who is in the trunk at the movie's ending?
After killing Bane, Stan and Roxy burn a pile of bodies in the shed, but at least one vampire is left in trunk for an unknown reason. The pile of bodies almost certainly includes Bane, Pitt, and Ozzy, which leaves four other bodies unaccounted for. Some combination of Grandpa, the sheriff, Marble, and Dommer may also be in the pile, but there's no way to be sure. If they were turned into vampires (which Dommer was), they may have escaped the shed and found their own hiding places elsewhere. If not, they must be in the pile and at least one of them in the trunk. Grandpa and the sheriff are never seen after they are attacked, even when Stan goes into the shed looking for Marble. This means that they have either escaped as vampires or are hidden somewhere in the darkness in the back of the shed.
If some or all of them are hidden in the darkness, they are either regular corpses or vampires. Marble is seen as a regular corpse, so it's possible that after being attacked by a vampire, victims aren't always turned into one. Assuming that Grandpa and the sheriff are both as dead as Marble, the only vampire who could be in the trunk at the end of The Shed is Dommer, which makes sense, because his best friend, Stan, might be hoping to find a way to cure him of the vampire's curse. If Grandpa was actually turned into a vampire but never left the shed for some reason, then he would be the most logical person to be in the trunk, since Stan needs him alive (or at least undead) in order to comply with the terms of his probation, which require him to live with his grandfather.
