10 Horror Movies To Watch If You Loved Bird Box | ScreenRant – Screen Rant

If you love Bird Box or horror films that involve the senses or sensory deprivation, take a look at this list of horror movies with similar themes.

In 2018, Netflix released their horror hitBird Box, whichfollowed the story of a mother (Sandra Bullock) and her children as they try to avoid creatures that kill you if you see them. Bullock's character blindfolds herself and her two children and attempts to reach a safe haven without being noticed by the mysterious enemy.

Movies that involve the senses, or the deprivation of them, have done critically fairly well in the past, so here are 10 others you might enjoy if you enjoyedBird Box.

One of the other big sensory horrors of the last couple of years is Blumhouse Productions'Invisible Man, starring Elisabeth Moss and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.Invisible Man tells the story of a wife who's husband has supposedly been murdered, but who in actual fact is still taunting her, but she is the only one who knows it.

Blumhouse has mastered the art of making small budget horrors that keep you on the edge of your seat. The loss of sight as a horror element is common to bothInvisible Man andBird Box,but each property does so in a different way that keeps the suspense going.

Another Blumhouse production that is streaming on Netflix right now isHush, which tells the story of a deaf writer who lives alone in the woods and is then preyed upon by a killer who she can't hear lurking about her house. Only using visual queues does she suspect someone else is there and it leads to a suspenseful struggle for survival.

Once again, Blumhouse creates a thrilling adventure on a low budget. Whereas Bird Box deals with the absence of sight,Hushdeals with the loss of hearing to keep audiences glued to the screen until the very end.

Arguably one of the greatest movies of 2018,A Quiet Place stars Jon Krasinski and Emily Blunt as two parents who try their best to keep their children safe from an enemy who hunts based on sound. This movie sets the tone within the first five minutes as dark and creepy and it has a gripping yet simple story.

This film does not so much deal with sensory deprivation but more sensory disuse for the sake of survival. A sequel has been announcedand was supposed to be released this year, but was sadly delayed.

2019's The Silence stars Stanley Tucci as the father of Ally Andrews, a girl who lost her hearing at 13. Meanwhile, creatures that hunt by sound swarm the planet, so the Andrews use sign language to communicate and avoid death.

BothBird Box andThe Silence have the theme of sensory horror, while also both having the "on-the-run for survival" element that some fans can't get enough of. If you liked this element fromBird Box,The Silence should be on your list.

Don't Breathe doesn't so much deal with a supernatural enemy, as a human one in the form of a blind ex-war veteran who hunts three teenagers as they break into his house to steal his money. They quickly learn that this man does not need eyes to find them, while they are trapped inside his house, desperate for escape.

The suspense ofDon't Breathe is enough to keep anyone's eyes and ears attached to the screen. Not knowing what is going to happen next in this slightly more realistic home-invasion horror makes it a strong recommendation for anyBird Box fan.

The Road stars Viggo Mortensen, who must protect his family from cannibals in a post-apocalyptic time. There are only a few rules in this world: wake, eat, search, move, and survive. These rules do not also apply toBird Box, but both films have the element of journeying to a safe haven.

In The Tall Grass was released on Netflix last year and tells the story of two people who go into, as the title suggests, a field of tall grass to rescue a boy. They soon discover however that something else besides the boy is running around in the grass.

Tall grass doesn't exactly scream 'horror' but then again, not being able to see your enemy can be just as thrilling,or arguably worse than, being chased by one you can see. Already seen it? Here are some things you might not have noticed the first time around.

Heading back to the supernatural element isSlender Man, the tale of the myth and legend that hides in plain sight and kills people.Three friends try to rescue one of their own who has been taken by Slender Man, so they try to summon him to save her.

It doesn't take a genius to know that these friends get way more than they bargained for, but if supernatural horrors are your thing, it might not be the best horror film of the decade, but it's definitely worth a go to tick it off the list.

Taking it back to 2007 comesThe Mist, starring Thomas Jane as David Drayton who gets trapped in a supermarket with his son as an ethereal mist surrounds them. The mist does not only take away their field of vision, but also blinds them from the bloodthirsty enemy that lurks within the mist, killing anything and everything in its path.

Gaining a 72% score on Rotten Tomatoes,The Mist is another sensory horror that could leave you forever avoiding that foggy path you come across on a daytime stroll.

It Comes At Night stars Joel Edgerton in this post-apocalyptic survival movie where two families stay in the same house to avoid the evil that lives in the outside world. However, the real evil might not be as far away as the main family thinks.

If post-apocalyptic horrors are up your alley, thenIt Comes At Night is definitely one for your list. The more eagle-eyedviewer may notice the subtle changes in aspect ratio throughout the movie, here's why this happens.
