Death is part of what made The Walking Dead as popular as it was, there was a constant stream of killing, and you never knew who would die next.
Death is as much a part of Walking Dead as breathing, perhaps even more so. It's constantly around the survivors, be it in the form of the Walkers or how often they have to put someone down. It's part of what made the series as popular as it was, there was a constant stream of killing, and you never knew who would die next.

It led to some amazing scenes where the intensity was palpable, leaving you on the edge of your seat. It also brought in some amazingly badass characters who were always putting down foes.
Paul Monroe or Jesus made quite an impact despite only coming into the comics once they reached Hilltop. He was one of the few characters who had the latent combat skills that matched a Michonne or even Rick.
It made him one of the key players in the Whisperer's arc, playing a role in Beta's death and slicing a part of Joshua's head off. Those two are his more crowning achievements in the series, most of his kills having come against nameless foes.
Starting as a secondary antagonist, next to Negan, Dwight eventually became part of the group later in the series. He was always a little unhinged, no matter who was in charge of him. That led to him racking up quite a few kills, both as a good and a bad guy.
None were larger than when he took down Abraham with a crossbow bolt. It's done right as he's confessing how he feels about Rosita, managing to finish even as the bolt pierced his eye.
For a character who started as a mere child, it's a surprise just how many characters Carl has brought down. He, more than any other character, was a means of showing how awful the world was now, taking no time to do so either as he's the one who took down Shane.

While he was a more minor character than his tv counterpart, Shane's death was still jarring. The fact he had to kill the reanimated corpse of his father made for a fitting end to the series as well.
Abraham was one of the few characters that transitioned perfectly into the show, coming off like the badass he was always meant to be. While most of his kills were alongside his fellow survivors, one sticks out above the rest, and that's what he did to Bruce.
Bruce had been bitten on the neck by zombies, and before he could be sent into much of a panic, Abraham put him out of his misery by striking him in the face with his weapon.
Blake's the first of the true psychopaths, but he isn't the last. He was the first major antagonist for the group to overcome and more than made his mark on the series. He played a role in Lori's death, as well as the death of her child after ordering Lilly to shoot them.
He also personally decapitated Tyreese as well as put a bullet into Hershel's head. It made him a fearsome villain and one that rightfully met their gruesome end.
The Whisperer's war had some highs and lows to it, but it can't be denied what an impact Alpha had on Rick's group. She made her mark right away, eliminating many of them in one fell swoop.

Among them were Ezekiel and Rosita, two characters you didn't think would die in such a brutal fashion. It wasn't that she killed them either, it's that she then mounted their heads on pikes as a means of marking her territory to the communities.
Michonne was one of the most badass characters in the entire series, one that started as a quiet assassin and grew into one of the more popular characters in Walking Dead. A big reason why is how stylish her kill count was, using her blade like she was a samurai lost in time, hacking up zombies and human foes alike.
Her decapitation of Eugene in the gladiatorial area showed right away what type of character she was, and it only continued from there.
As hands down the best antagonist in Walking Dead, Negan was without a doubt going to have a high kill count. His sheer violence is unmatched by any other villain or protagonist as he did more in his time in the series than just about any other character.
He has one of the most iconic kills in the series when he slammed Lucille into Glenn's head, killing him in one of the more shocking deaths of the series. He's also the one who managed to take down Alpha.
He's the star of the Walking Dead and the character most-followed throughout its many volumes. As such, it's no surprise that he has as many kills as he does. What is surprising is he was rarely the one that took down the antagonist of given arcs, and it wasn't until the tail end of the series that he got his two best kills.
The first was his tearful farewell to Andrea after she'd turned, and the second was having to shoot Dwight to stop him from starting a war.
Surprisingly, Rick isn't in this spot, especially since Andrea didn't make it to the end of the series, but she takes the top spot. Throughout her life in the comic, she was a killing machine, taking down just about every single type of foe you could think of.
She took down many of the zombified versions of her friends, be it, Carol or Ezekiel, always being the one who was never afraid of doing what needed to be done. She was to sniping what Michonne was to slicing and dicing.
