Hulu is bringing back its biggest hit with a new season of The Handmaid's Tale; and Disney+ continues its rollout of new episodes of the MCU super-series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

HBO Max also continues its ambitious streaming-and-theatrical film slate, with the latest would-be blockbuster Mortal Kombat coming to the service. The service also has the period-set sci-fi series The Nevers, created by Joss Whedon (who has since exited the project) on tap. Amazon Prime has its horror anthology THEM; plus a few solid movies coming to the service's back catalog.

THEM: A new, original horror anthology that explores terror in America. The first season, 1950s-set COVENANT, centers around a Black family who move from North Carolina to an all-white Los Angeles neighborhood during the period known as The Great Migration. The family's idyllic home becomes ground zero where malevolent forces, next door and otherworldly, threaten to taunt, ravage and destroy them.

Spontaneous: A good, old fashioned sci-fi romance complete with exploding heads. When students in their high school begin inexplicably exploding, seniors Mara (Katherine Langford) and Dylan (Charlie Plummer) struggle to survive in a world where each moment may be their last. As an unexpected romance blossoms between them, Mara and Dylan discover that when tomorrow is no longer promised, they can finally start living for today.

Creepshow (Season 1): Shudder's hit original anthology horror series comes to Prime Video for a sampling. Based on the iconic 1982 film written by Stephen King and directed by George A. Romero, comes a new horror anthology series from the mind of The Walking Dead executive producer Greg Nicotero.

It's hard to get a clear read on what might be new and dropping on Paramoun+ this month, but the upstart service (which takes over for CBS All Access) has a growing catalog of fan favorite movies and all the new Star Trek shows (plus plenty more in the works).

Shows like the new podcast-esque sci-fi series Calls, and ambitious sci-fi fare like Servant and For All Mankind are streaming now, though there doesn't look to be much in the way of new series launches this month. But projects like Lisey's Story and a new season of Mythic Quest: Raven's Banquet are on the way.
