Halloween parades, scary movies, and other spooky activities happening this week – PennLive

Now that Halloween is almost here, its time to get down to business and dive into some spooky fun. Here is a list of events - some scary, some family-friendly - that you can check out this week in and around Harrisburg, Hershey and Lancaster.

Halloween Family Skate

6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at Docs Family Fun Center, 1733 Harrisburg Pike, Middletown

This all-ages event includes skate rentals in the $12 admission fee. Attendees can compete in a costume contest, with prizes for the top three costumes. There will also be a Candy Scramble for ages 13 and under, rink games with goodie bags winners, and a chance to TP the rink at the end of the night with rolls of toilet paper available for $1. Drive-In Movie: Casper

7 p.m. Oct. 23 at Shank Park, 781 Bullfrog Valley Road, Hummelstown

If you want your Halloween fun to have a more friendly vibe, you and the family can enjoy a free screening of the 1995 movie Casper, focusing on the friendly ghost as he gets to know a living family. Visitors are advised to bring a lawn chair or blanket. More info can be found at the Facebook event page.

Night of the Living Dead screening

9:45 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22 at Midtown Cinema, 250 Reily Street, Harrisburg

George Romeros original zombie film will be screened at the movie theater, where there will also be a zombie-themed pre-show and undead-themed concessions. Details can be found at the events Facebook page.

Hersheypark in the Dark

5-9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, 2-9 p.m. Saturday Oct. 23 and Sunday Oct. 24 at Hersheypark, 100 Hersheypark Drive, Hershey

Attractions at the Hersheypark seasonal event include Treatville, a trick-or-treat trail with stops for candy open to guests ages 12 and under, as well as several Hersheypark rides. Five of the parks rollercoasters will be open, and special fall foods and Creatures of the Night programs can be found at ZooAmerica next door. Hersheypark in the Dark continues through Oct. 31. Pumpkin Glow

9 a.m.-5 p.m Saturday, Oct. 23 and Sunday, Oct. 24 at Hershey Gardens, 170 Hotel Road, Hershey

The Hershey Gardens Halloween celebration will feature more than 100 carved and painted pumpkins. Guests can also check out the Glow House, filled with jack-o-lanterns, black lights and other fun glowing attractions, or check out the food trucks, live music and other entertainment. All children will also receive a free bag of candy. The Pumpkin Glow continues through Oct. 31. For more info, visit the Hershey Gardens website.

Field of Screams

Various hours Thursday-Sunday, Oct. 21-Oct. 23 at 191 College Avenue, Mountville

The annual Halloween horror attraction is open for business through Nov. 13, with dates available on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with a few additional Thursdays in October. Visitors can choose from the four Field of Screams attractions: the Haunted Hayride, the Den of Darkness, the Frightmare Asylum and the Nocturnal Wasteland, to customize their own spooky experience. Halloween parades

Several Halloween parades are happening this week, including in New Cumberland (Oct. 19), Newport, East Pennsboro and Mount Holly Springs (Oct. 20), Grantville and Lower Swatara (Oct. 21) and Halifax (Oct. 23).
