Vampire: The Requiem is a role-playing game published by White Wolf, set in the Chronicles of Darkness (New World of Darkness) setting, and the successor to the Vampire: The Masquerade line. It was first released in August 2004, together with the core rule book for the World of Darkness.

Although it is an entirely new game, rather than a continuation of the old, it uses many elements of the old game in its construction. The game's title is a metaphor for the way vampires within the game view their life.

The second edition was initially introduced by Onyx Path Publishing in December 2013 as Blood and Smoke: The Strix Chronicle, and re-released in December 2014 for Requiem's 10th anniversary as Vampire: The Requiem Second Edition.

There are five clans in VTR, as well as a number of related sub-clans, known as bloodlines. A vampire's clan is determined by the clan of their sire.

There are five major political factions, or covenants, in VTR. In the second edition, additional regional covenants are introduced, although seldom rivalling the five majors on a global scale.

Vampiric powers and capabilities which have often given rise to old wives' tales of superhuman speed, strength, and endurance possessed by the Damned, along with their piercing gaze, spawning fear, their hypnotic and seductive voices, and the unholy power to vanish into shadows and shapeshift into bats, wolves, mist, and snakes.

Vampires are one of eleven playable supernatural races within the Chronicles of Darkness. They are the main focus of Vampire: The Requiem. They refer to themselves as Kindred.

This article summarizes the differences Vampire: The Requiem and Vampire: The Masquerade. While Vampire: The Requiem is an entirely new lore and system, it shares similar thematic elements to its predecessor.
