Scary Movie: The director of ‘It Comes At Night’ wants to make a Kanye West biopic – Vanyaland

Fresh off of pissing off all of America with It Comes At Night, an audacious and dark-as-hell original horror film so good that pretentious Guardian writers are having to invent bullshit genres in order to justify their enjoyment of it, director Trey Edward Shults has set his sights upon a target that might catch him even more hatred from the hurt in the heartland: Yeezy himself, Kanye West.

I have a dream of doing a Kanye West biopic, Shults tells the Independent, via The Playlist. My dream is he will see and like my movies and let me pick his brain apart to make the ultimate one-of-a-kind biopic we havent yet seen [that will] explore this man. Theres so much to explore. I just want to chill out with Kanye and make something great. I think hell like this next movie that Im writing.

Shults gave us no indication of such a seemingly out-of-left-field choice of subject in our interview with him a month ago, but we can kind of see how this might work.

And its not like Kanye doesnt have skills behind the camera take a look at Runaway, a short film of his that showed at Cannes back before the release of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. And its not like he isnt used to working with brilliant filmmakers; just check out We Were Once A Fairytale, his collaboration with Spike Jonze, for proof of his bona fides in the film world.

This could be truly fantastic, though, and its already pretty fascinating to speculate what it might look or sound like. Regardless, we hope its more Im Not There than Im Still Here, if you catch our drift.

Still, doesnt Kanye have a 2020 Presidential run to mull? Maybe Shults should just be his campaign documentarian.
