Keanu Reeves refused to yell at Winona Ryder in Bram Stoker’s Dracula – ClickLancashire

Ryder, 48, recently explained to The Sunday Times that, at the time, she was doing a scene in which her character was supposed to be crying. However, neither party, Anthony Hopkins nor Keanu Reeves, agreed to yell at her in such a way, and the actress praised them for not participating.

Whatever the reason behind Coppola's behavior, which would not fly in today's era, Keanu Reeves seems to have lived up to his reputation for being an all-round nice guy when he refused to yell at Ryder, and neither did Anthony Hopkins.

She added: "I was, like, really?". It kind of did the opposite.

There were certainly no hard feelings between Winona Ryder and her Bram Stoker's Dracula director, as she confirmed that she's still on good terms with Francis Ford Coppola.

Winona Ryder can be seen in Hulu's Normal People, which is now streaming. "I didn't really believe her, and then Francis Ford Coppola, the director of Dracula, contacted Winona and said publicly that, yeah, that really happened, the priest did a full ceremony, and Winona and I got married", the actor confirmed on USA talk show The Talk in January 2019.

About this, Reeves said, "Once in a while, I will get a text: 'Hello, husband, ' I didn't really believe her, and then Francis Ford Coppola, the director of Dracula, contacted Winona and said publicly that, yeah, that really happened, the priest did a full ceremony, and Winona and I got married". The've starred in three additional films together: A Scanner Darkly (2006), The Private Lives of Pippa Lee (2009), and Destination Wedding (2018).

According to the actress, Reeves' refusal to insult her at the time marked the beginning of their friendship, which has spanned decades. But still, Reeves and her male co-stars would not follow his lead.

"We actually got married in Dracula". She jokingly said that she is married to him real-life, post the movie.

The scene they were shooting featured Ryder lying on a bed next to Gary Oldman's Dracula, who was about to turn into a pile of rats - and Coppola wanted the cast to shout abuse in order to make her believably cry. We shot the master and (the priest) did the whole thing.
