New Years Day TV 2020: BBC, ITV, and Channel 4 schedule for films and shows – The Irish Sun

THE New Year has finally arrived and what better way to kick of 2020 than with TV gems.

From the return of hit sitcom Miranda to a new version of Dracula, each of the main TV channels are serving up some cracking shows on New Years Day.

Channel: ITV 1

Time: 7.00pm

Victoria gives birth and is terrified to look at her baby - given its the child of her rapist Lee - but immediately falls in love with her son.

Elsewhere, Aaron Dingle is told by Chas that Victoria is in labour, but hes too down about the thought of another year stretching ahead without Robert.

As Victoria packs up to leave the hospital, Diane worries about Wendy meddling with the babys life.

Time: 8.00pm

Tracy wakes up and is shocked to realise shes slept with Sophies ex-girlfriend Paula.

Amy realises who her mum has slept with and tells her she must tell Steve but Tracy doesnt want to risk her relationship.

Elsewhere, David is terrified when he gets a letter telling him its Joshs trial tomorrow.

The horrifying events of Christmas Day overshadow the new year at the factory.

Time: 8.00pm

Following Phils attack against Sharon on Christmas Day after discovering her affair, secrets and lies continue to simmer away in more than one family.

Linda wakes up on New Years day extremely hungover. When Mick demands to know whats happened, Linda tries to defend herself but ends up throwing up.

Karen fails to get the answers she needs following the shocking turn of events over the festive season.

Time: 9.00pm

What better way to bring in 2020 than with a new version of Dracula - a BBC One adaptation of Bram Stokers seminal 1897 horror novel.

The story will be split up into three 90 minute episodes and re-introduce the world to Dracula, the vampire who made horror sexy.

Written and created by Sherlock co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the mini-series features a cast of well known stars playing the characters.

Time: 6.55pm

The Time Lord returns once more to start the year off with a bang with an episode entitled Spyfall.

The sci-fi series will return for a twelfth series in January, with a two-part blockbuster episode airing on New Year's Day.

The Doctor- the exquisite Jodie Whittaker - is called in when aliens begin to threaten intelligence around the globe.

The episode will include appearances from Judoon, the extra-terrestrial species of mercenary police, as well as the Cybermen, cybernetically augmented humanoids.

Time: 5.45pm

Its 10 years since the hit sitcom Miranda came into our lives.

Miranda Hart presents this one-off extravaganza on New Years Day marking the milestone as cast members pay homage to the good times and perform some silly sketches.

There are lots of special guest appearances, including a musical number from Ronan Keating.

The second of this years festive specials is called Orange Is The New Mammy.

Agnes faces a dilemma after learning that her arch enemy Peggy Piper the Pernod Poisoner has been released from prison.
