Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious was taught the Dark Side of the Force by Darth Plagueis the Wise before destroying him to become the master of the Sith. As a Senator turned Chancellor of the Republic, he hid his trueself from the Jediin plain sight, then finally became Emperor of the Galactic Empire and nearly wiped out the Jedi Order.

Through years of training, Sidious mastered lightsaber combat, so much so that he considered the practice a farce and only kept one to mock the Jedi. He's also one of the all-time most powerful users of the Force and is notorious for attacking his enemies with Force lightning. Outside of the movies, Palpatine displayed the ability to bend space and time with the Force, levitate and mysteriously survived a fatal fall at the hands of Darth Vader.

If there's a weakness to the Emperor, it's his hubris and underestimation of others. After failing to turn Luke Skywalker to the Dark Side, he viciously attacked him in a fit of rage, enough to let his guard down and allow Vader totoss him down a ledge. He also underestimated the spirit of the Jedi who aided Rey inThe Rise of Skywalker anddestroyed him once and for all.
