Teens of the Month Nominees – Akron Beacon Journal

Kyrice Brunson, Akron Public Schools, East CLC, Cadet Adjunct, First Lieutenant in the Navy ROTC

Behind Kryces winning smile is a young man who is dedicated to his country, driven and disciplined to succeed and reach his goals. He is serving as a Cadet Adjunct, First Lieutenant in the Navy ROTC which is a college-level program designed to train future officers to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. He embraces honor, courage and commitment which are the core values that drive the actions of every Marine. Every day he takes time to cultivate the younger cadets by leading by example, and demonstrating outstanding time management skills when performing with the drill team, color guard, band or choir performance.

Jarek Heath, Norton City Schools, Norton High School, 12th grade student

Jarek is a wonderful young man and highly dedicated student. He is currently taking 5 AP classes and had outstanding success on the ACT. Jarek has an impeccable work ethic, exhibits respect and attentiveness to all, and prides himself in being a model student.

Madison Rowell, Norton High School, Norton High School, 12th grade student

Madison is a Norton student but also spends a lot of her time at Wadsworth High School as she participates in the media communications program as a career tech student. When she's at Norton, she is an AP student, and an active member of the band. Madison is a type of student who takes advantage of everything that we have to offer.

Aaron Gluth, Stow Munroe Falls, Stow-Munroe Falls High School, 11th grade student

Aaron Gluth is a responsible, and ethical, hard-working student. Aaron stands out from the crowd because of his willingness to help and go beyond what is required of him. He carries As throughout all his studies and enjoys learning. Aaron has been a member of the ski club here at Stow since he was in 7th grade and loves snowboarding. He currently works part-time outside school and is excellent in managing his time between school and work. His current employment is at Boston Mills where he is the supervisor of the culinary department. Aaron has also been a key player on Stow's soccer team for the last three years. Aaron is currently in the International Business Academy and member of the DECA Club here at Stow and his future plans for post-secondary is to go to the University of Akron and major in international sales and marketing.

Seth Frient, Springfield Local Schools, Springfield Jr./Sr. High, 11th grade student

Seth sells eggs, cares for and raises animals on a farm and takes time to teach others about raising animals and caring for a farm. He is a member of National Honor Society and shows a maturity and responsibility for his studies. He is amazingly mature for his age and goes out of his way to help others.

Morgan Miller, Springfield Local Schools, Springfield Jr./Sr. High, 9th Grade Student

Morgan is known for spending time with struggling students in math class. Morgan is super helpful and was a huge help when the French students were visiting last Spring. Morgan and her parents hosted a French student in their home. She represents Springfield well where ever she goes. Her attitude is positive and contagious!

Carson Karakis, Coventry Local, Coventry High School, 12th Grade student

Carson is a wonderful student and role model within the high school. He is truly motivated to do his very best. This shows as he finished the first grading period this year with a 4.55 GPA and carries a 4.21 Cumulative GPA. Carson finished this fall as a captain and 4-year letter winner on our boys soccer team. Carson was the starting goalie and a key component to the soccer teams successful season. In the meantime, during the same fall season, Carson competed as the punter on our Football team earning a Varsity letter. He is an active member of our Key Club and holds the position of their event coordinator. Carson is also our Senior Class President and an anchor of our morning announcements video crew. In what little spare time he has, Carson holds down a job at Timber Beast in Medina. He is also actively involved in the Boy Scouts. Carson stated that the Foreign Language Club trip to New York this fall was one of his best school memories. Following graduation he hopes to attend the Ohio State University and pursue a Biology major.

Kelly Baker, Woodridge Local Schools, Woodridge High School, 11th Grade Student

Kelly Baker is an active member of FCCLA, National Honor Society, Dance Team, Yearbook, ASL Club and Prom Committee. Kelly is one of our most respectful and kind students. She is always willing to help others and volunteers on countless projects around our school. Her teachers are extremely grateful for her devotion to helping other students and promoting a positive culture in the classroom.

Aiyanah Peeples, Hudson City Schools, Hudson High School, 12th Grade Student

Aiyanah Peeples is a senior at Hudson High School. She most recently was the lead in a spectacular rendition the theatrical version of Dracula, where she played Renfield. Aiyanah has long been a part of the theatrical program at Hudson in addition to being a leader among her peers. She has been a part of the International Thespian Honors Society since her sophomore year. She is also a member of the Hudson band, Model UN, Speech and Debate club, Key Club, and Rugby.

David Jordan, Hudson City Schools, Hudson High School, High School Senior

David Jordan is a senior at Hudson High School. He most recently played the title role of Dracula in the Hudson High School rendition of Dracula. David has also performed in A Midsummer Night's Dream as the lead Oberon, and was part of the crew in Phantom of Opera at Hudson High School. In addition to his theater roles, David is a also a member of Model UN and Key Club. He also writes for the school newspaper and is the president of the Young Democrats Club.

Zachary Jackson, Barberton City Schools, Barberton High School

Zachary is an outstanding student who becomes involved in sports, musicals, CTE programs. He was selected into the 2020 Bridgestone Emerging STEM Leaders Program. He will spend 10 weeks working at Bridgestone Americas Technical Center.

Kathryn Swanson, Barberton City Schools, Barberton High School

Kathryn is involved in many activities inside and out of school. She is on the academic challenge team, swim team and band. She and her sister represented BHS on WAKR's student challenge.
