Universal’s Monsterverse Resurrecting ‘Dracula’ – Animation World Network

Monsters are crawling all over Universal! On the heels of the successful theatrical run of The Invisible Man for horror haven Blumhouse Productions, a new creature feature is now in development: Dracula! The film will take place in modern day and is set as a moderately budgeted stand-alone. Blumhouses expertise with the macabre, coupled with Universals eponymous bloodsucker history with Dracula (1931) and Dracula Untold (2014), spells for the makings of a bloody-good dream team. The long-forgotten Monsterverse lives!

Karyn Kusama (Jennifers Body, The Outsider) is set to direct, with Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay penning the script under the Blumhouse Productions banner.

Universals Monsterverse has been on hold since the less-than-desirable reception Tom Cruise and The Mummy received back in 2017. However, the success of the ultra-low budget The Invisible Man has sparked a light at the studio. The Bride of Frankenstein is also rumored to be in development, with Angelina Jolie in talks to star as the Bride.
