Bram Stoker's classic novel is being re-told once again in the form of a new drama series by the BBC.

The story is being split up into three 90 minute episodes and will re-introduce the world to Dracula, the vampire who made evil sexy.

Written and created by Sherlock co-creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, the mini series takes the viewer back in time to 1897 when English lawyer Jonathan Harker heads to Transylvania to meet Count Dracula. But when he arrives, he finds himself trapped in an ancient and terrifying castle and a game of cat and mouse ensues as the vampire goes on the hunt for fresh blood in London.

Where was Dracula filmed?

Filming took place across various locations in the UK and in Eastern Europe.

Henley Road Cemetery, Caversham

A series of night shoots took place within the cemetery over three days for the drama.

However, the location caused controversy and upset with relatives of people buried there, citing the production company's decision to use the place of rest for the small screen adaptation as "disrespectful".

Bray Film Studios, Berkshire

It was only fitting for a horror story to be filmed on the site that is steeped in horror movie history a s the Bray Film Studios was the home of Hammer Film Productions between 1952 and 1966.

Speaking about the iconic location, Gatiss said: "It's seriously delightful that our new Dracula is being shot at Bray Studios - the former home of Hammer Films!

"This wonderfully atmospheric and legendary studio gave birth to so many famous monsters and stars - most memorably Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. As we watch Transylvania once again rise on the sound stages of Bray, it's amazing to be able to say that Count Dracula has finally come home."

Orava Castle, northern Slovakia

Despite Dracula's home being in Transylvania, Romania, filming of the vampire's castle took place in the 13th century castle in northern Slovakia.

The castle has links to the story of Dracula despite being over 960km away from his birthplace, as the castle was the used as a filming location for the 1922 vampire filmNosferatu.

Zuberec,Slovakia

Filming for the series also took place in the village which is located atthe foothills of the Western Tatras.

When is Dracula on TV?

The first episode ofDracula aired on New Year's Day on BBC One at 9pm. The episodes will continue to air over two consecutive nights at the same time and on the same channel.

As well as being available to watch on the BBC iPlayer, viewers who are not in the UK will be able to watch the series viaNetflix.

Who stars in Dracula?

Danish actor Claes Bang stars in the lead role of Dracula as The Crown'sJohn Heffernan takes on the role of Jonathan Harker.

Death Comes to Pemberley actress makes an appearance as Mother Superior alongsideDolly Wells in the role of Sister Agatha.

Morfydd Clark, who starred in His Dark Materials will be seen taking on the role of Mina and Mark Gatiss, who also co-created and co-wrote the series, will star as Frank.
