6 Bollywood horror movies full of spooks and gags coming up in 2021 – GQ India

This place is for those who eat, sleep and breathe horror. 2021 is shaping up to be a great year with some exciting Bollywood horror movies hitting the screen: And as you'll see, the horror-comedy seems to be something of a trend here.

Having received over 14 million views on its trailer in just a day, Roohi is one of the most anticipated films of the year. The movie is a follow-up ofRajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor's 2018 filmStree, only this time it is Janhvi Kapoor opposite Rao. The trailer shows usa possessed Janhvi Kapoor who abducts brides during their honeymoon. The film also stars Varun Sharma.

Release Date: 11th March 2021

Filmmaker Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa was among the biggest successes of 2007 and has amassed a cult following since.The second installment of the film will be helmed by Anees Bazmee and will feature Kartik Aaryan, Tabu and Kiara Advani. But is it a sequel? Not really, Bazmee told TOI. "This is a completely different story, Besides the title we have taken two songs from the original the title song and the Bengali song. That apart, our film is completely original."

Starring Saif Ali Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam and Arjun Kapoor, Bhoot Police is a horror-comedy directed by Pawan Kripalani who is something of a don of the genre, having previously given us gems like Ragini MMS and the Radhika Apte-starrer Phobia.

Rosie: The Saffron Chapter

Rosie: The Saffron Chapter marks the Bollywood debut of TV actress Shweta Tiwari's daughter Palak Tiwari. Unlike other films on the list, this one is old-school horror. The movie is inspired by true events and revolves around an employee at Saffron BPO, who disappears. The movie also stars Vivek Oberoi.

Release Date: TBA

Phone Bhoot is a horror comedy directed by Gurmmeet Singh. The movie will have Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khatter and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles as part of what seems to be a Ghostbusters-like squad that catches ghosts and is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.

Expected Date: Sometime in 2021, reports India Today

A remake of the Marathi horror movie Lapachhapi, Chhori will star Nushrat Bharucha in the lead. While not much is known about the Hindi adaptation, the original told the story of a mother's attempts to save her baby from the evil spirits that haunt her home.
