Personally, I believe that making a horror movie is one of the most difficult things to do in this world. How does one move away from the same old jumpscares, have a genuinely good plot for the story and tease the audience with the uncertainty of what could happen in the next moment?

But every now and then, we are exposed to certain scary movies that not only fail to scare us but also make us wonder what the f*ck are the characters in the film doing.

Here are 9 extremely stupid things every horror movie character does that nobody in real life would do:

Women in horror movies cant run for their lives for some reason. Regardless of how obstacle-free their paths would be, theyd find that one rotten plank or a random pool of blood, step on it and fall on their faces only to be stabbed or get possessed by an evil spirit.

Okay, so you somehow managed to shoot the murderer in the face, or axed them in the torso and the bad guy is lying still on the floor. RUN for your life, damn it. Dont bend on your knees and bring your ear close to their face to check if theyre breathing or not!

Ah, the classic lets split up plan because it is always the best idea to be on your own, especially when a bloodthirsty demon is looking for an opportunity to dig its teeth in you. You could stay together and try to defend yourselves, but no, lets make it easier for the evil spirit to feast on you.

So the ghost killed your dog, you hear creepy noises from inside your walls, you get pulled out of your bed by an invisible force in the middle of the night. Whats the next step any sane person would take? Keeping living in the haunted house, of course.

You know that something is not right with the place you are at or that someone is trying to lure you into isolation so that they can freaking kill you! But the sound of water dripping in one corner of an eerie basement deserves your attention because this is when you think about water-conservation and saving the planet.

How sloppy have you got to be to drop your car keys just seconds before you reach your car? They make those keys so big just so you dont lose them. If you know that you have extraordinarily sweaty hands, maybe use a giant keychain or something.

If you see something supernatural manifest in front of you, you run. It is that simple. Dont be standing there thinking what is it going to do to you? It will always kill you! And even if it is not there to take your soul or something like that, is it worth risking your life?

At this point, if a horror movie character hides underneath the bed, they deserve to die. A locker of an empty school, inside the bathroom of a haunted hotel or any other spot in the location where the victim can get cornered, thats where they choose to hide.

Oh look, the killer went past you and you have a clear shot at running away from his lair, but no! Better to step on the creakiest wooden plank on the floor, or start breathing like a runner whos competed in a cross country race.
