STERLING HEIGHTS, MI - He can make Pennywise look like a kids birthday party clown at times. We had a rare chat with Terrifier horror movie star David Howard Thornton while he was in character as Art the Clown. Since he doesnt talk and only lets his horrific actions do the speaking, Terrifier filmmaker Damien Leone joined in on the conversation.

Thornton, who is also wrapping up shooting Terrifier 2," gave fans a chance to take pictures with him in character over the weekend at Michigans Astronomicon pop culture convention which took place in Sterling Heights. The makeup process actually takes about three hours.

Its a prosthetic. We have to take a mold of his face. Then I have to sculpt the prosthetic. We have to make a new one every time because when you take it off, it gets destroyed, said Leone. Theres a lot going on. Youve got to put it on, glue it on meticulously and then I have to paint this whole black and white scheme.

Fans of Terrifier wont have to wait much longer to get their Art the Clown fix. The sequel is nearly complete. Were almost finished with principal photography. We have about 15 or so days left out of a 65 day shoot. Then were going to start editing and were trying to get it ready by October 2020.

So without giving any spoilers away, heres a little of what fans can expect from the upcoming sequel.

Everything people loved about the original were doing again in this one so its going to have those over the top super duper graphic kills. Were trying to top the now infamous hacksaw scene if we can a couple of times. The scope of the film is bigger. Theres great characters in this one. Its very character driven, especially the female heroine. Were going to learn a little more about Arts back story in this one.

So whats the future with Art the Clown? Where does Leone ultimately want the character to go?

I would honestly like to make one more. I have an idea for a solid trilogy. I feel like if you go too far the well is going to run dry. I want to make sure we have a nice story to tell, but you never know. Were always trying to think how can we push it further especially now the expectations with the gore is so high. We dont want to let the fans down."
