PORTLAND (WGME) Coming soon: a new made-in-Maine horror movie.

You can catch it this weekend at the Emerge Film Festival in Lewiston.

Island Zero was written by best-selling author Tess Gerritsen and directed by her son Josh.

It was all shot in mid-coast Maine last winter.

The movie is about the fate of residents on a Maine island after they get cut off from everyone else.

"A group of fishermen on an island in Maine find themselves isolated from the rest of the world when the ferry stops coming, the phones die, and the internet is dead. They have to find out what's going on in the outside world," said Tess Gerritsen during an interview with CBS 13.

Director Josh Gerritsen said he's proud of the movie and its roots in Maine.

"We were very excited to shoot this in Maine that was the first requirement of this. We wanted to showcase our state," Josh Gerritsen said.

Island Zero will be screening this Saturday at the Community Little Theater in Lewiston.
