Coping In Quarantine: Peppermint Is Bingeing the Movies of This Iconic Horror Director – Billboard

"I'm in control of my life, my body, my actions and my power. Just take your time." Peppermint's mantra for dealing with stress during the pandemic is exactly the kind of uplifting, thoughtful sentiment youd expect from one of the most authentic performers and activists to come out of RuPaul's Drag Race.

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month and plenty of us focused on staying centered as we self-quarantine, Billboard decided to check in with some of our favorite drag queens and LGBTQ talent to see what they're doing in isolation and what techniques they're using to stay mentally healthy during this unusual time.

True to her name, Peppermint has been partaking in a lot of mint-flavored treats -- plus, per her Instagram bio ("actor singer horror movie buff"), she's bingeing the works of an iconic horror director. As she rides high on current single "What You're Looking For" and returns to the land of podcasting with Quarantine With Pep and Caz, Peppermint let us know what her life in isolation looks like.

First Things First"The first thing I do in the morning is talk to my Alexa about my day. While making breakfast."

Text Besties"The person I text most is Sander Jennings, about the day. Things I wanna try. Stupid things I did try."

De-Stressing Techniques"Listening to music and having some mint tea...before devouring a bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream."

Quarantunes"Mellow jams, a little Moby, Erykah Badu, India.Arie, 'Girl From the Gutter' by Kina."

Binge Watching"I'm binge watching The Good Fight on CBS and all of the George A. Romero horror films in order."

What's For Dinner?"I usually eat pretty simple. I'm eating a lot of vegetables and grilled chicken and fish. Of course, mint chocolate chip ice cream."

Staying Creative"Before the quarantine I started writing new music. I've been recording it in quarantine."

Staying Connected"A lot of my time is spent teaching my mom how to use video chat. We are still trying."

What I've Learned"The thing that gets me the most excited above all is new tech toys and learning that Im better at tech stuff than I realized!"
