While we usually think of ghosts and supernatural beings when we think ofscary films, there are some which get the "horror" factor from ~explicit~ violence, blood, andmurder.The thing aboutthese movies is that they're not TOTALLY scary, but you've got to have a strong stomachand nerves of steelto watch them. In this film by Ari Aster, there's something wrong with the Graham family and it's important to pay special attention to the latest generation, Charlie (Milly Shapiro) and Peter (Alex Wolff), and their relationship with their mom. After their grandmother's death, Charlie, Peter, and their parents try to live their lives normally, but fate has something else in store for them. THAT scene with THAT telephone pole is truly something that I've never seen in any movie before. It's so gross but sooo amazing at the same time.

In this contemporary version of the '80s "slasher" movie, Cole (Judah Lewis) has a special bond with his super hot and popular babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving), who defends him from bullies and treats him like a friend. Sheltered and *pure*, Cole always goes to bed during his bedtime even though he knows Bee probably invites people over once he's asleep. One night, he decides to stay awake to find out what Bee does when he's not around, only towitness Bee kill an innocent classmate. This movie is basically a twisted version of Home Alone!

Daniwho already had a lot of issues prior to this tripfeels like something's not right, but she doesn't realize how dire her situation really is.

However, this film starringJennifer Lawrence andJavier Bardemhas a lot of blood and features assault and evenMAJOR SPOILER ALERTcannibalism. A popular interpretation of the film is thatMother!isan allegory about mankind and the destruction of the environment: "Javier's character is God, Jennifer is Mother Earth, and everyone who shows up uninvited and ready to ruin everything is mankind."
