"It's in my top 10 favourite movies this year! Go in blind and trust me, its excellent."

The Hole In The Ground is directed by Lee Cronin and follows a single mum whose young son returns from a forest with increasingly disturbing behaviour - which she suspects is linked to a mysterious sinkhole that has appeared.

The film opened to rave reviews and has an 85% fresh rating on review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes.

Variety heaped praise on the horror's "atmospherics", and Screen Daily revelled in the film's " original, visceral shocks".

It has also been favourably compared to other horror successes, including breakout 2018 hit Hereditary and 2014 classic The Babadook.
