WILMINGTON Just days after starting production, three crew members on "Scream" have tested positive for COVID-19.

Deadline reports that filming wrapped onthe Wilmington setThursday and will go on a break for the weekend following the positive tests, but shooting is expected to continue. The affected crew members are said to have been quarantined.

The cases are said to have not been among the core principal cast and crew, includingactors, director, assistant directors and director of photography something that will allowfilming to continue after the weekend break.

On Friday, the production shifted several of its on-location filming permits datetolate next week, including stops at Cardinal Lanes, Williston Middle School and driving scenes through the Pine Valley neighborhood. It is not clear if this is connected to the weekend break.

The "Scream" set has, like all productions in recent weeks, implemented rigorous COVID-19 protocols to keep cast and crew safe while filming, with masks required on set and crew getting tested as many as three times a week depending on their interaction with the set.

To further ensure COVID-19 doesn't spread should crew members test positive, they are also broken up into groups on set based on their job and proximity to filming. Therefore, every crew member is not interacting with each other on set.

The Deadline report notes that as more film and TV productions ramp up, positive cases are more likely until a vaccine for COVID-19 is available.

"Scream" is settling in for what will be a lengthy production, lasting at least through November in Wilmington.

The legendary horror franchise is welcoming back its three main actors Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette along with a slew of new actors for the fifth installment.

Arquette appeared on "The Tamron Hall Show" on Friday and said he will begin shooting his scenes in the film in about a week. Social media posts from the cast showed that newcomers to the franchise Jenny Ortega, Dylan Minnette and Mason Gooding are already in town for filming.
