Stranger Things: 10 Movies Featuring Cast Members Of The Hit Show – Screen Rant

Netflix'sStranger Thingsstill holds the throne of being the most popular series on the platform, which is loaded with tough competition. The show has been a place of resurgence for some actors, and a launching pad for others, but nearly every cast member has found interesting roles between seasons of the show.

Even the core cast of kids are popping up in films, or getting their own prank shows, which luckily will not be mentioned on this list. This list is ten movies to seek out if you want to see more of your favorite small-town sci-fi heroes.

The Australian heartthrob that plays womanizer and monster vessel Billy Hargrove has shockingly not been in many things outside of the show. He has a small role in the Christmas horror filmBetter Watch Out,and then he has the lead role in the underrated 2017 superhero epicPower Rangers.

Power Rangersis a bizarre series of weird choices that somehow were made. The film opens with Dacre's red ranger character leading a group of high school toughs to steal the milk of a cow, only to end with the joke that one of them wasn't holding the utter. The film is full of so many painfully odd decisions like this, that it never gets boring, and is wholly enjoyable. Plus, in the finale, a giant robot grabs a giant monster and German Suplexes him into a building.

Sadie Sink plays Max Hargrove, the tough, but sweet new member to the main teen group, and sister of the aforementioned Billy. Sadie also plays a pivotal role in another Netflix venture, the horror filmEli.

The film follows a boy who is forced to live in a bubble due to vague circumstances until he and his family go to live with a medical professional that believes they can help him. While there, he is able to ditch the suit, but quickly finds that something isn't right in the place. Supernatural occurrences begin, and Eli attempts to solve the mystery. Sinks plays his new friend and ally throughout the film.

While he doesn't appear in any major films, Noah Schnapp, who plays the woefully unlucky Will Byers, has the lead voice role in 2015'sPeanutsreboot, playing Charlie Brown. The film is a surprisingly great venture, with the classic cartoon transitioning to 3D animation without any major issues.

Schnapp is great as Charlie Brown, the somewhat pushover but loveable kid that does his best to appease all the other kids in town. Unfortunately, between Lucy's football prank, and the Stranger Thingsdemon's possessions and kidnappings,Poor Schnapp is just always getting victimized.

While Dyer has been showing up in a number of projects, like Netflix'sVelvet Buzzaw, she is the main lead and direct focus of this film, based on the short of the same name, also starring Dyer.

The feature debut of Karen Maine, the movie follows a sixteen-year-old girl in the mid-2000s as she discovers sexual urges, and tries to learn how they play into her devout Catholic upbringing. Dyer is excellent in it, and the film is an emotional coming of age film that should be sought out.

There is no shortage of films to choose from for the iconic actress. She was the lead in the cult classicHeathers,as well as Mina Harker in Francis Ford Coppola'sDracula.Just two of her many huge roles.

Beetlejuiceis a nice film to revisit as it shows Ryder portraying a teen in the eighties, which holds an interesting level of symmetry toStranger Things, where she is the mother of one of the main teens, trying to keep him and the others safe through the chaos. Plus,Beetlejuiceis a brilliant supernatural comedy that always deserves a rewatch.

Gelman has become a recurring fan-favorite character on the show as rude genius Murray Bauman, however, Gelman has had a prolific career in comedy long before that showing up on more comedic shows than I can count.

This all makes his lead role inLemonall the more interesting and impressive. Cowritten by Gelman, the film follows his character, Isaac as his life unravels before his eyes after his girlfriend leaves him. The film goes between dry humor, weirdness, awkward energy, and emotional resonance as Gelman gives a knockout performance.

While Keery has played small parts in multiple films since being onStranger Things, likeSlice and Molly's Game,he has yet to get that lead role. That is changing this year as he stars inSpree. The film follows Keery's character Kurt as he drives rideshare and dreams of social media fame.

Produced by Drake and Future, and written byEugene Kotlyarenko, it is described as a wild ride that brutally satirizes social media obsession. Keery is also supposedly fantastic in it, which all makes it a film to look forward to. It premiered at Sundance earlier this year, so it should have a wider release in the coming months.

Arguably the most important character on the show is Brown's Eleven, so it makes sense that the actress is speeding towards a blockbuster acting career. She plays a pivotal role in 2019's massive monster movie, being the daughter of the two central characters who are on opposite sides of the film's human conflict.

Brown is still a piece of an ensemble in the film and not the lead, but nothing says that an actor is going places more than trusting them with the tough acting task of running looking scared, screaming looking scared, and looking up at the sky and looking scared.

It'd be easy to bring up Harbour's lead role in the reboot ofHellboyor note his co-starring role in the upcoming Marvel filmBlack Widowbut with those being blockbuster films, it is worth instead bringing up this weird Netflix original.Thefaux-documentaryfeatures a slowly unhinging Harbour playing himself as he goes back through his fictional father's (also played by Harbour) acting career.

The whole thing is anchored with footage of the production of a play ofFrankenstein, but not traditionalFrankenstein,as the plot is rewritten with twists and turns and actor infighting. The short film is funny, charming, and shows off how entertaining a goofy David Harbour really is.

A great fit, considering that 2017's smash hit horror filmITclearly followedStranger Things'footsteps in its use of a nostalgic eighties setting to tell a story of teens battling supernatural forces. Seeing Wolfhard get to play Richie Tozier, the funnyman of the group is a treat.

It's a nice divergence from his character of Mike, as Richie is a fast-talking pottymouth that has a narrow focus on riffing about romanticizing his friends' moms. Plus, he gets the best moment in the film's finale, as he delivers a big speech before the fight.
