The 10 Worst B-Movies Made In The Past Decade, According To IMDb – Screen Rant

B-movies hold a special place in the cinematic universe. These low budget flicks combine campy scenarios, questionable special effects, and shoddy dialogue. Sometimes, the result is preposterously brilliant. Other times, the result is just plain bad.

Whether it's white supremacist killers, crazed ballet dancers, or deep space adventurers, the characters in the films on this list exist in some of the most absurd fictional worlds brought to the big screen this past decade. These B-movies lack the qualities that make the genre so much fun: a humorous self-awareness, entertaining excess, and plots that are compelling enough to keep viewers interested. Here are the 10 worst B-movies of the 2010s, ranked according to their IMDb scores.

China Salesman contains quite a cinematic trifecta: Mike Tyson, Steven Seagal, and international corruption. In this Chinese and English language action film, Tyson plays an African warrior named Kabbah and Seagal a mercenary named Lauder. Both have been hired by a French businessman to thwart a Chinese company's attempts to win influence in an African country.

This film was a total bomb, earning some of the lowest ratings of all time across the board. Burnt out action stars are thrown into a non-sensical, poorly planned plot, and the results are hilariously awful.

1990s science fiction and action star Casper Van Dien stars in this wannabe Star Wars made with a much, much smaller budget. Van Dien plays Saber Raine, an intergalactic mercenary hired to save a prince and princess. Saber and his compatriots must travel to a faraway planet ruled by an evil tyrant named Sinjin.

Saber's group makes their way the far reaches of the planet, employing rayguns, robots, and hackneyed space opera plots along the way.

This cost-effective slasher follows a group of scantily clad high school girls who are targeted by their disgruntled former teacher. Pitching the creepy older man against a group of unsuspecting party girls, After School Massacre has nothing unique or original to say.

The movie isn't aided by its poor dialogue, one-dimensional representation of women, and difficult-to-film settings, such as cramped bedrooms.

After he's dumped by his girlfriend because he's unable to get her pregnant, a heartbroken geneticist uses his scientific skills to make a child of his own. Dr. Gino Conti combines human and, of all things, reptilian DNA, creating a son with some seriously conflicting tendencies.

As his kid gets older, the lizard boy's urge to eat people grows larger. Soon, Dr. Conti cannot keep his hybrid child with a taste for human flesh from following through with his reptilian urges.

Full of occult intrigue and half-naked men with pentagrams painted on their chests, KKKillers is an unneeded addition to an already saturated horror movie trope: Satanic panic. Shot in Chicago, Illinois, this B-movie focuses on a man named Marco, who discovers he's been targeted by a cult.

This cult doesn't want him as a sacrifice. It's much different than that. In fact, it turns out they want Marco to be their new leader.

A sequel to an action movie no one's heard of, He Who Dares: Downing Street Seige finds Christopher Lowe back at it: saving the British government from imminent doom.

In Downing Street Seige, the menace Alexander Holt escapes from prison and plots to kidnap the prime minister. Even though Lowe has been discharged from the Secret Air Service for disobeying an order, his expertise is requested yet again in order to save the head honcho in British politics. While Lowe may be a top-notch military fighter in the world of the movie, he'll never be James Bond.

Remember all those scary pandemic movies from the 1990s, like Outbreak? Virus X attempts to exist somewhere between these films and the Saw franchise, instead making a name for itself as one of the worst B-movies of the decade.

In Virus X, a lab full of scientists is quarantined after they are exposed to a mutating form of the H1N1 virus, also known as the bird flu. It turns out the scientists were intentionally subjected to the deadly strain by their head doctor, who has detained them against their wills in order to monitor what happens to them. Can they figure out how to save themselves and escape their containment? Does anyone really care?

Crudely conceived and missing its mark by yards, Ballet of Blood envisions itself as an arthouse horror film in line with Suspiria. This is, though, far from the reality of how the movie comes across for viewers.

In the movie, a pair of ballet dancers, one of whom just broke out of an asylum, plan vengeance against the ballet studio whose members tortured them emotionally and physically for years. Misrepresenting mental illness and angling cute young girls against each other, the movie involves samurai swords, Uzis, and lots of bloodshed.

The framing device for this B-horror film is a woman looking for her perfect online dating match: a man who loves horror films as much as she does. As the couple gets to know each other on their first date, they also dig into their mutual appreciation for their favorite gory genre.

The First Date looks about as low-budget as it gets, and the movie's makers warn audiences not to expect high-tech effects. While these aren't needed to make a good movie, a sensical plot and good acting definitely help. This film, unfortunately, has neither of these.

Not to be confused with the 2006 B-horror film of the same name, 2012's Dorm of the Dead is a different, terrible beast of a film. Winning the award for worst B-movie of the decade (according to IMDb), this is yet another zombie movie in a genre dominated by tales of the living dead.

This particular take on flesh-eaters follows an unpopular college student who lacks motivation, making him a prime target in the zombie invasion that unfolds around him. Surprisingly, he survives, becoming a de facto leader in the fight to save humanity.
