WWE News: WWE Announce Superstar Who Will Star in Horror Movie; Title Revealed

WWE's official site has announcedthatlong-time star Hornswaggle will take on the lead role of WWE Studios' next movieLeprechaun.

Hornswaggle (AKA Dylan Postl) had earlierrevealed this on hisTwitter account, mentioning themovie is slated for a March 2013 release.

Today, at WrestleMania Axxess, the grappler's role in the film became the subject of a game called "Hide and Tweet", withparticipating fans attempting to trackdown the star and discover his secret (which turned out to be his forthcoming acting role).

The article also noted that the film, a remake of the cult 1993 slasher flick starring Warwick Davis and a pre-FriendsJennifer Aniston, is currently going by the working title ofLeprechaun: Origins. No writer or director has been announced for the project yet.

Davis, who played the original killerleprechaun, has slammed the proposed remake, calling it a "cult classic" that "should not be remade." Davis likenedthe situationto Gus Van Sant's 1998remake of the classic Hitchcock movie Pyscho which was reviled by critics and fans upon its released.

The lead rolein a major WWE Studios' movie may be Hornswaggle's most high profile WWE-related gig to date. He joined the WWE roster in2006 as the diminutive sidekick to SmackDown wrestler Fit Finlay, participating in a variety of comedy angles and eventually being revealed to be Vince McMahon's illegitimate son in a major 2007 storyline (the payoff to theangle was quickly forgotten about though).

During his time in the promotion hewon the now defunct WWE Cruiserweight Championship in the summer of 2007, and actually holds the honor ofbeing the last wrestler to everhold that particular belt.

More recently, hehas been announced asbeing at ringside during the GM match at WrestleMania this Sunday asthe official flag-bearerto Team Teddy.
