10 Things to Do in Baltimore this Weekend: Comic Con, Scary Movies and a New Frederick Douglass Walking Tour – – Baltimore Fishbowl

Halloween is coming, frightening as it may be to think about another holiday in the pandemic. This weekend brings a menu of spooky movies and performances. Plus, Baltimore Comic Con goes virtual, offering a chance to dress up in costume (at home). Heres the lineup:

Baltimore Comic Con: Oct. 23-25, virtual. The annual pop culture extravaganza is all online this year, expect the live panels, meet & greets with authors and exhibitors that youd typically find at the Baltimore Convention Center. Plus, its free to get in.

Roy Ayers: Oct. 23-25 at Keystone Korner. Best known for writing songs including Everybody Loves the Sunshine and Searchin,' the vibraphonist and bandleader brings his blend of jazz, funk and soul to the Harbor East jazz club.

A Nightmare of Elm Street: Oct. 23-25 at The Senator Theatre. Still creepy after all these years, director Wes Cravens tale of Freddy Krueger heads to the big screen for the spooky season.

A Haunting Night of Crankies with The Lantern Sisters: 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, at Ottobar. Artists Katherine Fahey and Dan Van Allen present an evening of shadow puppetry, featuring ghost stories and folk tales. Free.

Black Film Festival and Youth Art Exhibit: 5-10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Park Heights. The family-oriented fall festival features a screening of 42 starring the late Chadwick Boseman, and an exhibit featuring art that celebrates African American achievement.

Music at 4500: 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 4500 Harford Rd. The outdoor music series in Hamilton/Lauraville continues with Outcalls, Mirian McLaughlin and Ginger Witch.

Boos on the Beach: 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Sandlot. The Halloween party down by the water in Harbor Point features games, costume contests and more. $15 admission includes welcome cocktail.

Drive-In Movies: 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Druid Hill Park. The outdoor movie series from Baltimore Rec and Parks screens Hocus Pocus. Admission is $10 per vehicle or social distance circle.

Linda Harris and Light Switch Band: 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24 at An Die Musik (streaming concert). One of a wide variety of virtual concerts being offered from An Die Musik, jazz vocalists Harris and Petra Martin front the combo that explores Brazilian, world music and funk. $7

Walking Tour: The Lost History of Frederick (Bailey) Douglass in Baltimore: 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oc.t. 25, at Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and Museum. Author John Muller leads a new walking tour featuring information on the abolitionist that was found in Baltimore archives.
