12 Marvel and DC Movies Coming in 2021 and 2022, From Venom 2 to The Batman (Photos)

Morbius

Pseudo Vampire Morbius, the Marvel comic book villain turned antihero starring Jared Leto, Tyrese Gibson and J.K. Simmons was originally set to open in theaters on July 31, 2020 will now be released on March 19, 2021.

Black Widow

Marvels Black Widow was previously scheduled to be released on November 6 but will now open May 7, 2021, the slot previously held by Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Venom 2 Let There be Carnage

The Venom sequel has been titled Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and has moved from October 2, 2020 to June 25, 2021.

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings which was previously slated for May 7, 2021, will now open on July 9, 2021.

The Suicide Squad

DC Movies The not-a-sequel to 2016s Suicide Squad, directed by James Gunn, was one of the films not affected by the pandemic and will hits on theaters Aug. 6, 2021.

Eternals

Eternals, directed by Chlo Zhao, will now open Nov. 5, 2021, after initially being slated for February 12, 2021.

Untitled Tom Holland Spider-Man 3

The third Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland which was originally scheduled for release on July 16, 2021, will now open on Dec. 17, 2021.

Thor: Love and Thunder

Thor: Love and Thunder, the 4th entry in the the Thor franchise starring Chris Hemsworth, moves up a week from Feb 18, 2022 to Feb 11.

The Batman

DC Movies The Batman is getting a new Bat-time: The film directed by Matt Reeves will now hit theaters on March 4, 2022, after Denis Villeneuves Dune was moved from its December 2020 release date to Oct. 1, 2021, originally the home of The Batman.

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness

Marvel Studios Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which was originally scheduled to be released on Nov 5, 2021 will now be released on March 25, 2022.

Black Panther 2

Given the recent passing of star Chadwick Boseman, it is unknown how the Black Panther sequel will move forward, but the film is currently slated to be released on May 6, 2022.

Captain Marvel 2

Marvels Captain Marvel 2, which was not previously dated, is now set for a July 8, 2022 release.

Black Widow is a standalone prequel movie about Scarlett Johanssons character from the Avengers films that follows her time as a Russian assassin. The film stars David Harbour, Florence Pugh, O-T Fagbenle and Rachel Weisz, and Cate Shortland is directing.

Eternals stars Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh and Don Lee and focuses on the race of ancient, superpowered humans created by Jack Kirby in 1976. The Rider director Chlo Zhao is directing.

Shang-Chi is another new character to the MCU and will star Simu Liu stars as the title character, a kung fu master, while Tony Leung plays the villain The Mandarin and Awkwafina co-stars in an unnamed role.

Benedict Cumberbatch returns for Doctor Strange 2, which recently lost director Scott Derrickson and is billed as Marvels first scary movie. Sam Raimi was in talks to come aboard the project back in February, and Loki writer Michael Waldron is writing the script.

Thor: Love and Thunder is the fourth Thor standalone film, which brings Taika Waititi back to the directors chair and even reunites Natalie Portman with the franchise.

Captain Marvel 2 recently hired WandaVisions writer Megan McDonnell to write the script, though directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, who directed and co-wrote the original film, will not return to the sequel.
