From the return of Top Gun to Dracula, see our picks of the telly and movie due to hit screens in 2020 – The Sun

ITS going to be a bloody great year for television, with lots of top shows for you to sink your teeth in to. The new decade kicks off in terrifying style tonight with Dracula, from the creators of the hit Sherlock series, who promise it will be a sexy take on the scary vampire.

Bram Stokers classic novel has been adapted for the BBC by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat. But their revamp hasnt been updated to modern times like Sherlock, nor is it a bloodless version of vampires in the vein of Twilight.

Steven said: It was time to go back to a scary castle, a tall, sexy man in a cape, bats flying everywhere and moonlight.

There will be plenty of sexual tension, with the count attracted to both men and women when he sails to Britain to find a better class of victim.

Steven thinks his liking for men too was there in previous adaptations, including the famous Hammer films featuring Christopher Lee.

He continued: They were very homoerotic, all the handsome young men in those movies took their tops off as well as women in low-cut dresses getting their necks bitten. Dracula uses sex to lure people in. Hes recognised the weakness in humans, we all lose our minds where sex is involved. But its not true that he just liked pretty young women.

Playing the undead killer is Danish actor Claes Bang, who is best known for The Square, an award-winning 2017 Swedish movie. Claes, who has been linked with the role of Bond after Daniel Craigs fifth and final 007 outing, believes Dracula cant help taking a deadly bite from humans. The 52-year-old explained: Its just a s***y side-effect that people died after being bitten by him."

I dont think he wanted to kill them. Hes interested in people and is like, Who the f*** are you? Oh my God, I cant wait to taste you.

The three-part series, on BBC1 at 9pm tonight, gives a bigger role to the books God-doubting nun Sister Agatha.

Played by Dolly Wells, best known for the Sky Living series Doll & Em, she meets Dracula when he arrives at her convent stark naked. The nun is attracted to the charming count, but resists the temptation to allow him to have a nibble. Dracula will be just the first course in a lavish year of top-class telly. Also look out for:
