Sarah Hyland has been acting her way into our hearts for years. She started out young and in commercials, but her role in the sitcom Modern Family gave her the platform she needed to make a name for herself. She was on all 11 seasons of the show but has appeared in other shows and movies like Veronica Mars, Dirty Dancing, Scary Movie 5 and Law & Order: SVU. She comes from a family of actors. Melissa Canaday is an actress whos appeared in projects like the mockumentary Stop the Bleeding! and the short film Float.

When she was 47-years-old when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. The whole family rallied around her when they found out. Sarah was completely ready to quit Modern Family to be with her mother, but Melissa insisted she stay on the show. She told PIX 11 that Sarah had worked too hard to quit. But her son Ian would come home from school everyday and spend time with her.

Now, she says that surviving breast cancer gives her a reason to live every day. Shes raised over $75,000 for in the fight against breast cancer through the Avon Walk and uses the walk as a chance to give hope to other survivors.

Edward James Hyland is also an actor who was also in Stop the Bleeding! But hes had roles in Gossip Girl and Law & Order. He also performed in both parts of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

Edward has definitely been a backbone for his family throughout its health issues. Melissa also told PIX 11 that he continued to work as an actor, in which traveling would cause him to be away from his wife and family, to insure his family had insurance.

He was even Sarahs first kidney donor. After she was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia a fetal development disorder as a child he donated a kidney. Unfortunately, the transplant didnt take and her body rejected it a few years later.

Ian Hyland is Sarahs younger brother who, you guessed it, is also an actor. Hes been in shows and movies like 30 Rock, The Merry Mercenaries and Spanglish.

Ian isnt just an actor. Hes a man of many talents including professional dance and Kung Fu. Hes studied several kinds of dance including ballroom, the Rumba and Swing dancing. Hes even won various awards for his dedication to these crafts.

After Sarahs kidney donation from their father rejected, Ian donated his kidney to her back in 2017. The two just celebrated their two year kidneyversary on Instagram. Not only did he call Sarah an Incredible order sister in the post but he took the time to promote her latest project The Wedding Year.
