Its not every day that fans of the macabre seek out romantic horror movies, but on Valentines Day, it becomes somewhat of a requirement. While you wont find anything along the lines of Romeo and Juliet or The Notebook on this list, each of the films built their foundation upon the existence of true love.

If you scour the web looking for the best scary movies with a romantic twist, youll find great flicks such as Shaun of the Dead, Warm Bodies and Night of the Living Deb.

This isnt that kind of list. We endeavored to find romantic horror movies that actually are horror movies. This means youll find no crossover from our horror comedies on Netflix list, but youll enjoy these films on this lovers holiday.

When Hank wakes up to find his girlfriend Abby has left him after 10 years, he begins a slow descent into madness. Thats what everyone thinks, anyway. Hes convinced that a terrifying monster began visiting him as soon Abby took off, and theres ample evidence he might be right.

His paranoid ramblings might have earned him more sympathy if his behavior hadnt become so erratic. Is the monster real or just a manifestation of Hanks guilt and loneliness? Either way, the stunning and unexpected climax makes this a Valentines Day horror movie that shows how far a person will go for love.

Oh, and its from the same folks who brought us Endless, Spring, The Battery and Resolution. If you havent watched every single one of these films, youve got homework this weekend.

How long has it been since you watched Candyman? If its been a decade or more, you might not remember that this is a perfect horror movie for Valentines Day. While the titular character is a supernatural serial killer, its easy to forget how he got to that point.

Candyman was once a mortal man. Unfortunately, it was during a time when slavery was legal. Even the threat of death couldnt prevent him from loving a white woman, but when he impregnated her, he was executed for doing so.

When a lost romance results in seeking revenge across the centuries, you know there was some true love involved. For that reason and more, this flick landed on our best horror movies of the 90s list.
