Every so often, Netflix likes to go above and beyond to ensure we all have sleepless nights and their latest horror, The Hole In The Ground, is one of their most terrifying offerings yet.

The supernatural horror, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January, has just landed on Netflix and its already left viewers with goosebumps.

The Irish film stars Seana Kerslake as Sarah, a young mother, who moves to a remote house with her young son.

Things start to get creepy as he wanders out into the woods and discovers a mysterious sinkhole and his behaviour completely changes afterwards.

A scary old lady from the village tries to warn Sarah that the boy is no longer her son, but an imposter before inexplicably headbutting the car window for maximum scare factor.

Complete with all the classics that make a horror movie truly terrifying (Creepy kid? Check. Jump scares? Check. Scary old people? Check) fans were left unable to sleep after watching the movie.

They took to Twitter to share their fear, posting: This new hole in the ground movie on Netflix is creepy as s**t and Also just saw the hole in the ground on Netflix. Its deadly if you like horror movies and Irish accents are the best for scary movies.

Others added: The Hole in the Ground is utterly terrifying. #publicserviceannouncement and This creepy Irish thriller is a slow burn that was worth every minute. Based on a very real and terrifying Irish legend/mythical creature. I give it 2 jump scares but 2000 hairs standing on end.

The film was originally released in cinemas in March, following the premiere at Sundance, but fans were enjoying being able to scare the wits out of themselves at home instead.

Word of advice if youre looking to get a good nights sleep, this probably isnt the one
