Evil: Season One

Paramount Home Entertainment, rated 14A, DVD, 3 discs

An entertaining new series on CBS from the creators of The Good Wife and The Good Fight (both very good shows) is Evil. The series is a psychological mystery that looks at evil as it pertains to science and religion. Skeptical psychologist Kristen Bouchard (Katja Herbers) joins a team employed by the Catholic Church to examine cases and explain why they occurred. The team also consists of priest-in-training David Acosta (Mike Colter) and contractor Ben Shakir (Aasif Mandvi). Also in the show are Kurt Fuller, Michael Emerson and Christine Lahti.

The pilot episode involves a case where the team has to determine whether a serial killer is a psychopath or whether his evil actions are a result of him being possessed by a demon. The second episode involves a teenage girl who comes back to life after being declared dead for approximately three hours. Is it a miracle or can science explain it? Exorcisms, ghosts, angels, demonic possessions, prophecies and conspiracies are other topics addressed in the fun crime/horror/drama series.

This 3-disc set (a little over 9 hours) features all 13 season one episodes along with several special features including Evil: Season One: Genesis and Does Evil Exist? There are also deleted/extended scenes. If you are looking for a new series to follow this is definitely one to consider.
