Regina Hall Reportedly in Talks to Star in ‘Cheaper By The Dozen’ Disney+ Reboot – – The DisInsider

Girls Trip and Scary Movie star Regina Hall is reportedly in talks to join the Disney+ Cheaper By The Dozen reboot, the Illuminerdi has learned.

The reboot will to take a much more different approach than the film before it that starred Steve Martin, as the reboot will center on an interracial couple and their family that consists of their children they had together, step-children, and adopted kids. The film will also put the focus on the mother dealing with the chaotic household.

If Regina Hall signs on, she would play the lead character Zoey Baker, the mother of the household. Hall is known for her wild comedic appearances in Little, Shaft, Think Like A Man series, and the aforementioned Girls Trip and Scary Movie films. So, this could be a perfect role for her.

Despite the Hollywood shutdown due to the coronavirus, pre-production on the film is ongoing, and the studio is currently looking for its leading man opposite Hall for the role of Tom Baker (originally played by Martin) the father of the family. The studio is reportedly searching for a Caucasian actor ages 40 to 43 for the role, the studio is also looking for actors of all ages and races for the roles of the twelve Baker kids.

Production on Cheaper By The Dozen was expected to begin on July 17th, in Los Angeles, but is looking more unlikely it will hit that start date. The studio has yet to confirm any delays on the Disney+ production schedule

The film will be directed by Gail Lerner, who has produced hit shows for ABC and NBC such as Black-ish, Happy Endings and Will & Grace. Black-ish and Grown-ish creator Kenya Barris (who also wrote Girls Trip starring Hall) and Jenifer Rice-Genzuk will pen the script and Donald J. Lee Jr. (The Greatest Showman, The Art of Racing in the Rain) along with Barris will serve as producers.
