slowthai and Skepta honor Scary Movie in the video CANCELLED – Inspired Traveler

This Friday, February 12 TYRON, the anticipated double album by slowthai. As a preview, the British rapper has just released the video for CANCELLED, his collaboration with Skepta who debuted together on Jimmy Fallons TV show last week.

Directed by THE REST, the video includes references to iconic horror and suspense films American psycho, The silence of the inocents, Candyman, Nightmare deep in the night, The Texas Massacre but also to Scary Movie, the saga of black humor films so popular in the 2000s. Among the many nods to those titles, the moment in which slowthai dresses as Freddy Krueger also stands out. You can see it at the end of this note.

TYRON It is a double disc, with seven songs each, and includes collaborations by James Blake, Mount Kimbie, ASAP Rocky, Dominic Fike, Denzel Curry and Deb Never, in addition to Skepta. According to a statement, one half of the album includes the classic arrogance, machismo and swagger typical of rap, while the other part shows a more thoughtful side.
