Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is set to make to his feature film directorial debut with the upcoming horror thriller This Beast. The film is being produced by Blumhouse, and it will be coming to Netflix. Sutter will write, direct and producethe movie.

The idea for the movie is inspired by The Beast of Gvaudan, which is a true story about a mysterious beast that terrorized a French village in the 1760s.

The story for the film is set in an 18th century English village, which is besieged by a mysterious and elusive beast. Dozens of innocents are slaughtered and the mayhem is driven to puritanical heights by religious fanaticism. The impossible task of killing the beast falls to a lowly trapper who promises he can stop the carnage. But for him this hunt is not a professional mission, its a deeply personal one.

Sutter said in a statement, Bringing my disturbing, familial story sensibility into the Blumhouse world just seemed like something that had to happen. And This Beast is the perfect project for that marriage. And Netflix is the perfect venue for that bloody ceremony.

Producer Jason Blum added, Weve long been fans of Kurt and his unparalleled storytelling -- thats both visceral and packs an emotional punch. Were excited that Blumhouse is producing his first feature for Netflix.

Ive enjoyed Sutters work over the years. He brings a dark and real grittiness to his stories, and itll be interesting to see how this horror film project of his turns out!
