University of Tennessee grad’s horror film starring John Hawkes to air on TV this weekend – Knoxville News Sentinel

A moviefrom University of Tennessee gradKeith Brunson will debut on cable this weekend 29 years after it was completed.

The 1991 film, titled "Scary Movie,"was filmed in Austin, Texas, and stars Academy Award nomineeJohn Hawkes, who's known for his roles in "Winter's Bone," "Deadwood" and "The Sessions."

It will screen at 2 a.m. EST Saturday on Turner Classic Movies, according to the channel's online schedule.

Brunson produced the moviealongsideMike Tolleson andDaniel Erickson, who also directed the film, according to Turner Classic Movies' website.Erickson,Mark Voges andDavid Lane Smith served as screenwriters for the film.

TheAmerican Genre Film Archivein Austin remastered "Scary Movie," according to its website. This remaster allowed the film toget the opportunity to air on TV and reach a new audience,according to an email from Brunson.

The film follows Warren (Hawkes), a nerdy teenager who attends a haunted house in a small Texas town and gets way more than he bargained for.
