AMC and The Walking Dead should do virtual table reads for charity – Undead Walking

Celebrities and studios are coming together to raise money for charities during the COVID-19 pandemic with creative Zoom calls and table reads. Wouldnt it be great if AMC and the cast of The Walking Dead came together for a virtual table read to support a good cause?

Table reads are usually done in private, given that no one wants to reveal big secrets before an episode is even filmed. (Remember Satellite-Gate back prior to the season 9 premiere?) Theyre an opportunity for the whole cast and crew to go through the script and block out the action before filming begins.

Lately, several television show casts have come together on web calls to host table reads to raise money for good causes. Most recently, the casts of Lizzie McGuire and Orphan Black reunited for a dramatic virtual reading to support charities.

With production halted at the moment, doing a table read is a great way to engage with fans and show their favorite actors performing as themselves. Ryan Hurst, for example, would read Betas lines while looking like himself, which would be a huge change, to be sure, but it would be really fun to see.

Another upside? A charity table read would not be limited to current cast members only. Why not bring back Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies and Chandler Riggs (imagine Riggs reading young Carl!) to do a dramatic reading of an episode from season 2. With Zoom technology, the possibilities are endless.

Now is a great time to get creative while so many fans are staying home. Both Friday Night In with the Morgans and Bottomless Brunch with Colman are AMCs first ventures into uncharted unscripted quarantine-TV territory, and they have been successful. A table read would be a lot of fun for everyone involved, and it would also be a great way to raise money and awareness for some good causes.
